Winter tires

Ordering Blizzzak 245 / 55 / 19 on ASA ST-2 rims. Anyone know if these will rub control arm bolt. Tirerack is saying they likely won't as they are only 0.6" taller than stock 245/45/20. This combination is bnot recommended by Tirerack.

Anyone know wether they rub or not?

Humm, never heard of that combination before. Most are going with various 18" wheels, including ASA ST-2's or Pirelli Scorpion Ice/Snow 255/45/20's mounted on OEM wheels.

Here's just a few threads on winter wheel and tire options to consider:

http://www.300cforums.com/forums/srt...-question.html

Winter tires for us Canadians...??

http://www.300cforums.com/forums/srt...tire-rack.html

Within some of those threads are other links as well. I think the most popular wheels are 18" Borbet Type TS, but as you can see there are now at least three other wheels that will work. The key thing is fitting over the front Brembo's.

Just for the record, those 19" tires are 753mm (29.6") in diameter verses 728mm (28.7") for OEM RSA tires, making them 3.6% taller than the RSA.

I think 235/60/18's are a much closer fit at 739mm (29.1"). That's only 11mm taller. You have to remember you want a narrower tire for winter anyway.

Rambit,

The recommended Pirelli255/50/19 which work out to 29.03", are actually 30" according to Tirerack. They did not know if the Blizzak DM-Z3 245/55/19 I ordered come in oversized.

Also, without TPS will the light appear only or will there be a constant chime?

Sorry, can't answer on the TPM's because I don't have them on my 05 and for that reason I've never really given it much consideration.

I still think that combination is not your best option though and that there are better sizes available for you, not the least of which is it's more desireable to have a narrower tire.

One of the options has been proven to work for the past two winters without problems. Your choice may work however, so we'd appreciate some feedback so it can be added to the list of what's available for winter for future reference.
