Tire PSI for drag strip, OEM tires

Just as the name implies, what would folks with some ACTUAL track time recommend for rear pressure to improve launches?

I assumed bringing the rears down to around 26-28 would help, but practical experience would be appreciated. I generally run all 4 corners at 38 and even thought of bumping the fronts up to 42 for drag runs; the rears is what I'm looking at.

BTW this is for the stock F1's.

I usually air down to 25 in the rear on my F1's...some have said it makes no difference but I have time slips that say differently

i run at 24psi at the track....it felt like it grabbed the asphalt compared to
34psi...at 34 it broke traction right from the get go...now i might have been a little lighter on the foot but i think it was the lower psi that gave me a better track time also...

I typically run 26-28psi in the rear and run 34-36psi up front at the strip. I roll into the pedal to avoid spinning. Even with a dozen runs down the track, I still have not trap'd <2.0 sec 60'.

Thanks for the replies!

That sort of confirmed what I was thinking but wondered about the F1's. The side-wall is pretty firm on them so I wondered about getting too low and defeating the purpose!

Thumbs up

Whatever your max psi is for your tire use for the front. And for the rear i used to run 26 psi but now i run 24 psi. This combo had me in the 1.9's all day long. And don't forget to check your tire pressure every single time right before you make a run.

Moose once advised me to put my rears down to 20 psi, haven't tried it yet because its now too cold and too wet to. I would see if you could have a tire shop do some siping on your tires, I don't know if you can do that with the f1's but if they can that might help a little bit. I had them do it to mine and its already a lil more difficult to cut the rears loose. It hooks up better, I like it.
