Loose Front - Hollow Thump/Rattle over Small Bumps

Hey all, interested in some feedback on this. First of all, I am really enjoying the SRT8, however, my front end feels "loose" to me when I hit small bumps. I did some research and based on some other posts I thought it could be bad sway bar connectors, bad tires, or bad shocks (no gas)?

I replaced my sway bar connectors, but it still drives the same. Do you think this could caused by my tires, shocks or even tie rods?

Right now, I'm thinking of taking it back to the dealer and asking them to check the front shocks and tie rods. If those check out OK, I'll probably move onto the tires - perhaps switch from F1s to RSAs?

Anyone else experienced this and have a suggestion?

BTW - I'm pretty OCD when it comes to things like this. The rattle/thump is not real bad, many people might not even notice/care - but it bothers me.

Thanks and Happy New Year!!

checks

many have had issues with the struts. Apparently some are noisy from the factory.

I have also seen/heard of sway bar bushings being loose. It's all easily confirmed at the dealer or a local shop with a lift.

I just got back from the dealer and had my service rep take a spin with me. She definitely acknowledged that there is a hollow rattle sound after impact on certain bumps. The sound appears to be coming from the front left & right in the fender area. She seemed to recall a TSB on this on the SRT8 or even the 300C (a fender insulation/rattle issue or something like that). She is researching this now. I'll keep everyone posted.

Mine had no gas in the shocks from the factory. It made that thump over the smallest bump. At 1000 miles they replaced the struts...they were on back order due to so many complaints. Since then my car has been great. Only warranty complaint I've had (besides the other TSBs).

Hey TopFuel - so what caused the thump....just the shocks or the strut/shock combo? BTW - I asked them if low/no gas in the shocks could be causing this on mine and one of the guys said that my shocks are fine - that if they were low, you would visibly see a leak from the shocks??

Thanks for the reply

Turkey, keep us updated because mine does the same thing. I have been taking it as SRT8 normalcy. 20'' wheels with racing suspension = crap ride with some thunks.

I just found this thread that seems spot on to the issue

http://www.300cforums.com/forums/srt...ghlight=shocks

I'm going to look into getting some new shocks.

Has anyone else replaced their shocks with new OEMs or after-market and can confirm that this resolved the issue?
