Vibration at 80mph

Here's the setup. I have 14K miles on the car. Had the stock Goodyear F1's on the car, and everything was fine.

Just had some new Toyo Proxes 4 (275/40 rear; 245/45 front) and now when I get up to 75-85mph, I get a real bad shake in the wheel. Obviously not pleased, I went into and had the alignment done today on the front and rear just to make sure.

When I got back onto the interstate I am having the same issue. I have read some ideas on the Tie Rods, however I don't think the coincidence is too far off that I have only had this problem with the newly mounted tires. With that said, I also don't believe the issue is with the new tires (see how I circled around with this?)

Anyone have any thoughts on this one?

Mine developed the shake at around 75mph with the stock F1s at around 8,000 miles. I took it in for an alignment. It was clearly out of specs - so much so that the tech thought I must have hit something. I got it aligned and it fixed the vibration. Good luck getting this fixed!!

I'd be willing to bet that your tires are not balanced properly. I could tell you exactly where to go for a perfect balance here in Cincinnati. You need a shop with the newest Road Force Balance machine that can accomodate 20 inch tires. Good luck.

Took the car to another shop today, and had them rebalance the tires using a road force machine. The balance done by the original shop was WAY off (ie 3 oz's) and this was performed on all 4 tires.

Now I am riding on butter, got on the toll road today at no wobble at 75 and no wobble at 140 either!

Hunter GSP9700 Wheel Vibration Control System

This was the link I used to find the closest one to me. Good luck, and I hope it works for you as well.

Get them balanced correcty. I went thru this and trust me 2 dealers later the bottom line it was the balancing of the tires. Have the dealer do it.

I had the same problem. They did a static balance instead of dynamic. The front driver side tire was 1.5 oz out and made it shake like crazy. I was very disappointed to have paid nearly a grand for tires and then have to pay somebody else to balance them correctly.
