My 15yr old daughter....

Swapped the brake pads on the SRT8 this past weekend! I have gotten some odd looks when I have told others at work that but the fact remains, she swapped them! She is quite the "girly-girl" to all outward apearances, but isn't afraid to dive in. She thinks it's funny she can do an oil change (and swap brakes) and her "boyfriend" would have trouble putting gas in the car.

Actually, she did everything from jacking up the car to verifying the torque on each lug nut at the end. I supervised and helped clean the wheels while they were off and helped clean up the calipers to get as much of the old dust off as we could. She was a little leary of taking a hammer anywhere near the car (she knows me well) but after she punched the 1st pin, it was all good from there.

We opted for the PosiQuiet pads from Dave and had some fun bedding them in. I think we may have over-done it a bit since on the last hard braking run, we left a huge cloud of smoke! I was surprised at how much dust we had after the bedding run but I'm figuring it is the residual from the old pads clearing out. I'll have a better idea of how much dust is normal after I clean up the car this weekend to base-line it.

Great story Allen! Just goes to show you just how easy these brakes are to do too.

Thanks Bernie!

She is a pretty quick study and enjoys tinkering with stuff. She wants to take auto shop next year. When asked by her guidance counselor if she intended to be a mechanic she replied "No, I really want to design cars and need to know how they work!"

VERY cute kid you got ther Allen!!! Hard to imagine her covered in grease though. You better keep her locked up in the garage...haha. It's nice to see a girl into that stuff though. Hey, maybe she'll end up designing cars for Chrysler some day.

That is an awesome story to share with us. Good job teaching and supervising your darling daughter. I loved the answer she gave her guidance counselor! It seems that stereotypes still exist when it comes to females and vehicles, lol!

Good story Allen, I will be putting the same brakes on next week. Looking forward to less dust myself.
