Brake Squeak

Has anyone else noticed squeaking brakes when lightly applied? I've been letting them break-in a little and hoping the squeak would go away, but it's very loud and very annoying.

My squeak quietly, so much so that at first I assumed it was the car next to me. But, not so. They do squeak, mine just a little.

Mine apparently squeak a LOT. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) I've completely lost my hearing in that frequency range, so I have to be told about the squek from my family.

Perhaps someone at Brembo can answer the question. Could be a simple 'burn-in' thing going on. Or something more serious, which I doubt. Those are pretty fine brakes.

www.brembo.com - the number in the US is 1-800-325-3994

Mine do a little as well. I thought it was just a matter of glasing the pads. I don't want to mash down too hard because of the brake dust. I find it hard to just feather the brakes as it seems like all or nothing. Minor irritation though.

I don't think my problems should be considered as a real problem. Apparently it's common with high performance brakes.

Just the price of amazing brakes

Sounds minor

I'm sure that if your smart enough to buy the SRT8 youve already done this:

Burnishing the brake pads will help to reduce squeal and improve braking performance. Burnishing involves heating the pads to a high temperature to burn off the glaze on them and seat them to the rotor. This is done by driving the car to a speed of about 80 kph (50mph) and braking to a stop with firm brake force. Repeat the stop about ten times. Allow a full one-minute cooling off period in between stops to avoid overheating the brakes. Naturally, this procedure must be done in a safe and traffic free place, or you'll really p-off anyone behind you.

Metallic pads, as opposed to organic are more squeal prone

Also for those with delivered SRT8s: are the brakes equipped with anti-squeal shims?

Anti-squeal compounds of varying effectiveness are available to put on the back of the pads

No biggy tho
