Alright, as you can see, I'm going to be referring to the 300c SRT8 wheels, not that it makes a difference, BUT...
My front outside bands of the tires are wearing prematurely. Rears are perfectly fine for the exception of one tire has 2 flat repairs, and from what I heard, "3 strikes and you're out".
Rears are 255/45/20 and front is 245/45/20. I was wondering can I throw the 255/45/20's on the front with out any issues? How will this affect the steering, etc?
My plan is, throw the 255's on the front, to replace the work 245's and get me some wider tires for the rear. I had a thread saved that sais the stock SRT8 wheels are 8" wide, but I heard they were 9" wide, can someone confirm? I want to know the widest tire i can throw on the rear with stock SRT8 wheels? This thread sayd I can put 275/40/20's on the rear stock (8") wheel, but if it's 9", is there a difference? Can I throw 285's on the rear?
Anyways, LMK asap because I will need this done very soon. Thank You everyone!
Well a guy on SRTConnection has 295/40/20 RSA's on the rear of his, and he's lowered on KW's. Discount tire just told me I could go with a 305 on the rear, but I would be going down to a 35 sidewall, which maybe look kinda retarded to the 255/45's on the front (sidewall). Input?
I run 275/40/20 Toyo Proxes 4's on standard SRT8 rims (9 inch). They dont rub at all. Have done 35000 Miles and never had a problem with this set-up. The Tyres stick out just a tad further than the Rims which helps protect the wheel. (although not too far to look silly)
Dont think you can go any wider on stock Rims than a 275...but i have seen an SRT8 with 315 tyres on aftermarket rims...and damn it looked good..really filled the guard out.
Guy, (scroll down) has 295's on the rear, no rubbing, etc. I just wanna see what the width difference is. I read it's about a 12" wide tire. Not sure how wide 255's are in inches, but I'll see if I can find out.
