Something strange....

I finally had my rear tires replaced (they were bald!). Still sticking with the Toyo Proxes 4.. But I did my 1st high speed run since them being replaced and the car felt strange. I came up to a turn and it seriously felt like the rear was on it's own steering. I tried swerving a little at lower speeds and it was the same.. Like of like I was at an angle like this / .. I thought about this quite a bit.. I do not recall it feeling like this before I had the tires changed.. But I'm also thinking it could be because of how bad my old tires were..
Also thought it could be because I had a slight power steering leak.. The level isnt down far at all.. But maybe the steering has a delay because of this? Therefore causing it to feel like it does?
I'm just looking for possible causes.. Shocks? Tie rods? I'm going to have a co-worker follow behind be and see if anything seems off.. Then head to a mechanic as soon as I can.
I do have a feeling the leak is the cause.. And will be having that taken care of very soon. As always, any input is appreciated!

Thanks for the help,
MacK

Had kind of the same feeling a couple of weeks ago. Thought maybe a bushing or something might be bad and allowing the rear suspension to shift.. but seems ok now, so we'll see in the long run. I had recently put the stock shock on that wheel to repair a faulty KW shock bushing, and thought me doing that or jacking up the wheel might have led to the cause. Not sure..

But hopefully you get it figured out and post here so we can all benefit.

Mack, I just put a full set of 245 45 20s Proxes 4 all around. They are so much better than the RSAs I had. I will say that I did notice on hard acceleration and turning at the same time at higher speeds the rear end seems to dip a hair and has a slight "mind of its own". No spinning or loss of traction, or even sliding - hard to explain. My old tires did the same thing a little. That said the proxes 4 always track great and hold the turn no matter what. I am getting used to the "new" feeling.

Bob (actually called Mac myself my whole life ue to my last name)

I'm thinking it's the tires as well.. That and the low steering fluid I believe is causing the front tires to respond just a hair slower. The lugs are on tight so that isn't the issue. I am looking to pick up some new gorilla lugs since all my caps are messed up and I will be getting it in for the steering fluid leak as soon as I can. I was quoted at $80 to fix that.

I won't say the Proxes let loose.. It just felt unsettling at higher rates of speed you know? It is nice to be able to take turns faster now that I do not have bald rears thats for sure.
