Finally Found That Rattle Over Bumps

just like everyone else that annoying rattle has been bugging me,so a friend gave me a new bottom ball joint, because I have changed numerous things to no avail, there was no play in any ball joints but my "friend" said that bottom ball joint play sometimes cannot be felt but on releasing the top ball joint and removing the arm containing the bottom ball joint a certain amount of play became evident,so we replaced the arm put the top wishbone back on and the only evident way of seeing or feeling any play was with a big lever on top of the top ball joint and there is no play on the other side,so what I'm saying and no doubt somebody will disagree, its the top ball joint which is part of the top wishbone thats causing all the problems.I got one coming in 5 days and I will let you know the results

At this point, other than all that and the sway bar bushings..... have you checked every bushing?... have you tried to use 'rabbit ears' to look for it?

I had mine in yesterday for this front end rattle. They replaced the RF tie rod and said it was good. Pulling out of their lot I could immediately tell it was still there.

I changed the sway bar bushes for pedders,I've driven the car with the link bars off,I've replaced the bottom ball joint,I've replaced the top wishbone, the noise has 90% gone but it's still quietly there nagging me.I dont know what "rabbit ears" are but I've used a sonic device that you attach to various parts of the car and listen through headphones and you can switch to individual parts, the only one that I could detect was the one attached to my top strut bolt.

I will find it even if it kills me,lol

Those are sometimes referred to as rabbit ears here...

I had a rattle at speed from the fender well liner rattling against the fender itself. Was the front right, just put some rope caulk in between it and the fender lip. So many noises in the front ends here on the forum, glad I found mine. Hope you get it nailed down!

Is it possible something is loose, like a body panel mounting bolt or TPMS sending unit in the fender causing it? May not be the suspension.. hope you get it.

Hadn't it more or less been decided by the SRT engineers that this rattle was due to the valve fluttering inside the front struts?

Have you tried changing your lateral arm? Actually I think Chrysler calls it a tension strut.

well another main dealer close to me(whom I used to work for and we have been friends and still do business together)has a customer/friend with the same problem and they think its that arm you mentioned,so I'm waiting to see if they cure his.I think its coming from the strut/shock absorber itself, its just like the noise when a shock is not absorbing, its got that gudn-gudn noise,(yeah I know,WTF is a gudn-gudn,lol)
