The rotors are harder than the pad material. The pad material appears to be a racing type, designed for hi temp operation. Normal driving is probably causing great amounts of brake dust and ridging. Just my 2 cents, but unacceptable, either way.

Hopefully, DCX will have a better pad compound soon.
I thought the same thing when I was about 1000 miles ,but now I can feel the actual grooves.

my rotors are the same at about 2000 miles in terms of grooving - will be addressing with service dept at oil change which should be soon.

Our Brembos don't do this on the CTS-V. 15,600 miles and the rotors look good.

OTOH: Your dealers' responses sound much like we're used to hearing when we complain about our differentials whining. Good to know that while the nameplates may change, service managers around the world are cut from the same cloth. Driving style, indeed! As if these cars were designed to go slow and stop softly.

The brake system itself is awesome but these pads are just ripping through the rotors. Dave Zeckhausen gave his thoughts on the situation back in May and he said that they were track pads that were designed to be used in high temperature situations----track situations. Around town driving doesn't raise the pad temp up enough for them not to be too-abrasive. Service manager actually said that the wear was normal. That's what bugs me more than anything. Sent pics to dcx today. Should recieve an answer from DCX in a couple of days.

What makes you think they'll respond at all?

Over on the V forum LASSTSS had the bright idea that a letter to GM with some signed "Yeah, that!" attachments from a bunch of other V owners might get the General's attention. So far he's gotten back a real (not form) letter that makes us think they actually read OUR letter, and that they may pursue our complaints.

Worth a shot...

I am at 1000 miles now and a lot of them where highway return miles from delivery. I was washing the wheels and noticed that the rotors now have what appears to be the beginning of the 'grooves' shown in the ealier picture. I guess it will be time to make note of it at a dealer.

Well you'd hope that if enough of us bring it to their attention sooner than later they may see this as something that will really come back to haunt them when we all have 10,000to 15,000 miles on our cars. The Brembo system does have a (seperate) 12,000mile/12 month warranty so it's not like it's a major issue for me but at the rate they're wearing it might be an issue for DCX when we start accumulating the miles. My situation is on record with the local dealership, the DCX delivery survey and I contacted DCX(with pics) directly via/email. Guess will wait and see.
