Do you have to update your tuner if it works right out of the box?
I have a question for anyone who can answer.
Do you have to update your tuner with the downloadable application from
the Superchips website if your tuner works right out of the box?
I have seen people who have updated their tuner before they even tried
it on the car, and they say its working fine. But did they actually have to
do this if they tried the tuner on the car, and it worked for their car right
out of the box?
I know we should update the tuner if you get the trouble codes, and it
does not work, but should we be updating no matter what even before we
hook it up to the car?
My build date on my 300C is Feb 2005, so I have read the posts about
people with build dates close to mine, and their tuner worked right out of
the box, but they updated it anyway, and re-applied it to their car. Should
we be doing this if it already works?
If I where you, try it first (no update) if it works great leave it alone for a month or so, if it does'nt try the update route then program your car.
If its not broke don't fix it!
That is all good advise. I was under the impression that the upgrade was
for vehicles that were throwing the error codes because their computer
software was an older version than the 3.61 and newer.
I did download the new upgrade, and I will apply it to my flashpaq before
I hook it to the car so I get any upgrades other than the ones mentioned.
I have not seen however anywhere on the flashpaq website that states
what the upgrades are for. It just says there is an upgrade.
So, how do you know if there a new upgrade other than the one that is
already there? I think a little info, or maybe a date on the upgrade would
be nice so we know we are getting all the newest upgrades, and not just
waisting our time downloading the same old upgrade file.
i saw the posts stating that the flashpaq should be updated before it is installed and since i dont yet have my car back from the body shop but do have my flashpaq i did the update. i hope that it doenst cause any problems when i actually get my car back and hook up the tuner. i will have my fingers crossed.

I just got mine last night; registered at www.flashpaq.com and downloaded latest updates, took about 10 minutes or so. Then plugged into the car and followed the instructions. Very clear, simple to follow, and worked flawlessly. And what a difference too!
I see you have a 2005 (as do I). They are having 'issues' with 2006 models and are now in fact saying the 2006 is NOT supported at this time and not to use it until further notice on a 2006. Nevertheless many 2006 owners say it's working great while others can't get it to work at all and some Chargers I guess won't even start! Glad I got an '05 right now!
You and I have the same basic build dates for our cars I see. Mine was
built on Feb 7th, 2005.
I was lucky enough to have a person at the Brampton plant send me the
actual build record of my car. It shows each step of the build, the time,
the action taken, the amount of time it took for that step, and the time the
car when to the next step of the build.
Its pretty cool to see that our cars take only a few hours to build from start
to finish. Most operations along the assembly line take less than a minute,
and some, take less than 20 seconds!!
I am going to do what you did, and update my flashpaq before I hook it to
my car so that I get any and all updates. If yours has worked so well doing
that, and our cars are brothers born around the same time, then I should be
good to go too.

When you hook your flashpaq up to the computer with the USB cable, it talks through the net to the flashpaq site and scans your version with their database. If updates are available it will tell you so, if none it tells you that as well.
