91 octane pinging in California

On the LXforum, many California flashpaq owners are pinging when running the 91 tune. When does Superchips expect to fix the 91 pinging problem?

Mine went away...after a few mos. But it started after I installed the CAI and before I installed the Flashpaq. Flashpaq just made it more noticable.

Maybe the pinging problem is in other states too, like N. Virginia. Or there are a lot more buyers/complainers in CA. It is also hard to find 93 octane in CA. Superchips developed flashpaq with Florida gas. The formulation of the CA 91 octane appears to be the problem.

Superchips has acknowledged the pinging problem with the 91 tune with CA gas. They have already issued special tunes, such as V103s, to fix other problems. So they probably need to come up with a special tune/version for CA gas.

Until then, the 91 tune is unusable in CA, unless we want to risk damaging the car.

I have a special SC tune for 91 pinging here on SoCal, but it is in the fuel mapping portion of the database, not the tune version. (The FP has 2 components, version and db).

It is considerably better with the custom db, but not eliminated (stated elsewhere in other threads too).

My cooler tstat also seems to help.

FWIW

Thanks jimt.

Note to Ron @ Superchips, can I please have access to the custom database that helps eliminate pinging....the price of Aussie 100 Octane fuel is killing me and does not ALWAYS seem to stop the pinging.

I'll "Stay Tuned" for the details!

Pinging in Missouri

I also have the pinging problem. I'm in Missouri, and I use 93 octane on a "bone" stock AWD 2006 300C. I informed Ron about the problem last month and I'm still waiting for a solution.
