Seeking opinion

A little about the car. Its a daily used car. never changed springs or strutts. I have 22" velocity wheels. my struts are shot and its time for a suspension upgrade. I was initially leaning towards the ST coilover but the mechanic told me he wouldnt reccomend them because you will feel the car hit the potholes. He reccomended springs and strutts. Im not sure im completely buying what hes telling me. He did tell me to bring whatever i wanted. So the question is what should i get for a daily driver? And sort of reccomendations i would greatly appreciate. Be mindful its a daily driver and no i do not want to spend 2500 on a kit. Just as a not here is what i looked at. ST coilover kit, Mehgan Racing coil over kit and the Eibach pro system strutt and spring set. He did tell me if i could to buy tokico strutts. So please help me out here. Im looking to do the suspension in the next two weeks.

Thank you

Daniel

My experience has been Eibach springs and KW coilovers. Both had higher spring rates as do most, if not all, aftermarket kits. Anything that lowers the car will have a higher spring rate, i.e., a stiffer ride. I agree with your mechanic. The stock struts and springs will provide a better ride. If there is a good aftermarket stock replacement and you want to maintain the ride you have, go with those.

MADDO-

thanx for the info. Im still undecided as what to do. Im kinda leaning towards the strutt and spring set up. i am not sure if i want to mix up brands (i.e. tokico strutts with eibach springs). would rather purchase as a complete kit. Have read some good reviews for both springs and coilover set ups. In the meantime i am looking to buy the sway arm bushings and the front anti-roll bar. I figure i can order these while I do my research and make a decision. Any other opininon would be greatly appreciated.

Eibach makes an entire kit with coilover and swaybars included. I think Hotchkis does as well and you might look at the Pedders kits.. I have KW coilovers and Hotchkis swaybars on mine and like the setup. I do like a firmer ride and I definitely have that with this setup.
