Rear step, kick out on bumps.

Many have read my vexing problem with instability of the rear end on bumps which has completely resolved with GY ComforTread tires. I just read the C&D review of the Z06 which smoked the Viper. The Z06 has the same rear end kick as my 300C (I should feel special). C&D reports "A chassis that does'nt know how to communicate and snap oversteers at will", "Grattan's track gave the Z06 fits. It never felt comfortable or sure of itself and gave us all disconnected, spooky feelings..." "If the Z06 encountered any bump or lump in the pavement as it was exiting a corner, the result was a nearly instantaneous outward snap of the tail" It all sounds so familiar, more dramatic than my C, but familiar nonetheless. C&D recommended before you take a Z06 to the track "modify it's suspension or get new tires", deja vu all over again.

I feel your pain in this. Even with 20's it is a bit scary at 100MPH in a looping curve to hit a bump and nearly lose it. What more you come off the gas and let a 90 something mustang think he won after about a 1/8 of a mile run. I came up from behind him, he hit it, I hit it, and just stayed on his bumper not even trying to pass we hit the curve and I had to really use all my driving expertise (what little I do have) to keep it in control. Scary indeed, it makes you look like you can't drive. Makes you think twice about doing high spped runs especially here in Hampton Roads Virginia, where the roads are just horrible.

Interesting comments on the 'Vette, but not entirely unexpected. I'm not sure what tires they're running on the Z06, but the run-flats on my C5 cause a kick, to the point that I can actually feel the rear lift over railroad tracks at a local intersection coming out of a turn at low speed - when driving in the rain, extra creepy! Tires would be the prudent place to start if following C&D's recommendation, although I replaced mine with the same tire for the peace of mind of having run-flats since I used to drive 325 mi., through long stretches of desert, to Laughlin, NV, and sometimes alone.

As you know, I also used to get a "kick" outta my C prior to adding the springs & sway bars... now it's a kick of a different kind- accompanied by grins . But I also look forward to changing my tires to see what, if any, further ride improvement I might gain after your glowing reviews.

do they still have the mono spring in the back? I read someplace when the rear tires go up and down it induces toe in changes, thats why the rear end wants to change direction. it was said they can not engineer that out with a mono spring susp?

What is the cost for the sway bars. I like the kw-coilovers as well.

The Hotchkis Performance sway bars run about $300-400. You can check with TByrne Motorsports, he carries them.
The KW coilovers run about $1500-1800, depending on the variant. fatchance just had them installed on his car.

Sorry toothdoc, I'm guessing your question was for me...
Much of the suspension has changed for the C6, but I understand they did use the same transverse leaf spring as found in the C5.
