Arrow Meister's KW adjustment port mod

Not satisfied with the KW factory procedure requiring one to remove a wheel and shock to accomplish something as simple as performing a rebound adjustment on the sweet Variant 2 coilovers, I made my own access ports in the carpet kit covering each rear wheel well, as follows:

Using a carpet knife, I opened adjustment ports near each shock by making a 3-sided cut in the carpet kit over the rear upper corner of each rear wheel well, leaving the forward edge intact to act as a hinge.

To facilitate future adjustments I've left a purple plastic adjuster knob on each rear shock. I'll use a small adjustable spanner to adjust the fronts.

Original time required to adjust, per KW procedure (requires lift or floor jack, lug wrench, torque wrench, assorted box end wrenches, etc.): 1 hour or longer.
Time required to adjust, using Meister's mod (requires no tools): 1 minute.

Thanks, John. She's fairly cute for an athlete.

I'm still tweaking the springs. Right around an inch to an inch and a quarter is where she'll probaby end up. So that when she settles on the springs she'll not be lowered more than an inch & a half. Keeping a bit of rake for the high speed benefit.

When I get her dialed I'll both measure & post up the pics.

There is actually no drop in the existing pics of her - but it does look like an inch and a half drop because of the lawn.

Arrow Meister's KW rebound adjuster mod for the Magnum

Just visited the friendly local Dodge dealer & came up with a solution for you Maggie guys 'n gals that I like even better than my 300 & Charger one.

As I had deduced, your Maggie has the interior plastic shroud over the rear wheel wells, as the whole enchilada is "interior". If you'll eyeball your shock position and angle and extrapolate an extension of that shock shaft to the interior you'll see that it would exit the top of the wheel well cover just forward of the rear drop.

Now here's where MagnumFreak over on LX can help you guys out big time - Have Andrew come up with a simple template showing youse guys 'n gals where to drill a small hole, and have him send that and the simple "T" handle adjuster he needs to fab up, along with two factory trim buttons to cover the holes when not in use and you're go to go. Drill the hole per the template, then simply slip the adjuster's shaft through that small hole down onto the shock shaft, give it the quarter-turn tweak you want to try, and you're good to go. For the racerboys in the group there could also be a small compass rose-like template included to orient the arrow-shaped end of the T-handle to for precise adjusting. That could be temporary, or permanently mounted.

I'd start with a good look at the existing interior trim buttons in a Maggie. Find one that gonna be in all dealer's parts bin, or an easy order, and drill the hole to fit the trim button. The larger the trim button the easier the job of mating the T adjuster to the shock shaft.

I'll let you guys take it from here, but I like to see Andrew take that project, as all proceeds from his (non-profit by design ) business go to his charity to help save kid's lives.

Happy adjusting. In a minute, not a half day. While you're out enjoying the twisties, not skinning knuckles in the garage.

Here's one of you next week : "Let's see, I just took that right hand sweeper at 78 miles an hour and it felt pretty good, but not perfect. Let's try a quick quarter turn CW on the rears and give it another go."

It makes the adjustability of these sweet KW Variant 2s something infinitely usable.

Great color choice, JeDiHemi.

Now that the mod bug has bitten, you're on your way to ever-increasing enjoyment of your ride. This traces my progress: Modding the LX Hemi

May you enjoy your journey even half as much as I have mine. If you do, you'll experience Christmas many times a year.
