To Mod or not to Mod?

Now this is driving me nuts!
To mod or not to mod? What a delema. Cudos to Meister and cb, dan,NR and the rest of you. Such entertaining tales.
Now do I stop modding my 5.7 save up and get the SRT8? Or just be happy that I've been blessed to have what I have (I love these cars) add scprogrammer than suspension and who knows whats next?

crhemi,
ask Meister what he has put into to it to hang with us...
then ask us what we have done...
get a number and compare...
46,000 - SRT8... w/out taxes...
1,000 exhaust mods...
total $47,000

I will give Meister some lee-way here...
his hanging with me through several sections has me thinking about tweaking the ride a little...
But Dan put it as eloquently as possible (as you can among good friends and "spirited" driving partners)...

oh and Dan, I could be up for that little "experience"...

SRT8s are awesome

I'll state it again - had the SRT8 been available when I bought my sweet C I'd be driving one today. Would I trade up in heartbeat if it didn't entail a huge depreciation loss? You bet.

Is there a better performance value anywhere than the mightly SRT8s? No way, IMO.

SRT8s are freaking awesome cars and are a steal at MSRP.

Here's the kicker: Would I have found it necessary to perform every mod to my SRT8 that I have my C? You bet. They still have the engine & tranny lag, which annoy me to no end, and the Hotchkis / KW combo is a better suspension. So I'd have spent precisely the same on mods had I been driving an SRT8.

As far as I know, GUSRED, if your stock components cleared your rims & tires the KWs will also. There are no caveats in either the install or adjusting manuals addressing larger rims/tires.

Do be aware the there is minimum drop of approx. 7/8" front & rear inherent in this setup. So if lowering your car an inch and a quarter (after settling) would cause you problems then you'll have issues.

FYI there's another member with 22s who'll be installing soon I believe.

Please keep us advised.

Thanks

I guess im going to have to do some more research on this because my wheels and tire barely clear my fenders and quarters. Do you know by anychance if the new suspension does not allow more bounce than the stock ? What i mean is will the kw suspension drop it about an inch but allow less up and down travell allowing the wheels to still not smash into my fenders/quarters.
Thank you for the response.

I would only set them at the minimum drop but i have to be certain they will work because the price is never good when you cant use it!

Gus, check this link: http://www.kw-suspension.com/en/30_P...LER&gruppe=all

That will take you to the spec page and give you a start on sorting this out.

Please post back, as other members with 20s & 22s will no doubt be following shortly. Hmm - actually fatchance (John) is running 22s on his, but maybe different widths. PM him - he'll be very helpful and is a great resource.

Good luck.
