I'm having the same issue; noise that sounds like rubber on metal (like dry suspension parts) but no correlation to car speed or suspension movement.
I put the car up on ramps, and crawled underneath. I pulled and pushed on everything I could pull or push on. What I found is the large plastic bladder on the passenger side just under the rear seat will squeak if I push on it. Seems like there is an internal baffle that came loose (just a guess, not really sure).
I'm assuming that this is the gas tank.
It's on the list for the next dealer visit.

I feel like you hit it on the head w/ the noise, "...(like dry suspension parts) but no correlation to car speed or suspension movement." The only thing is that I ONLY hear it from the front end. I don't hear it at all from the rear side.....
My guess is still the fuel tank baffle. Noise has a way of propagating thru the car. To me it sounds like it is coming from the transmission area, but I guarantee that the fuel tank squeaks just like I hear from inside when I push on it with my hand.
The squeak is only on the passenger side. Drivers side is solid.

Ok, Saturday I will take my wheels off and look for these clips on the brake caliper. If I find them, I will take them out and go for a test drive. If the noise is still there, I'll move to plan B (the fuel tank).
Can someone please post a pic of these metal clips? I've taken my C to the stealership a couple times since I started this thread and everytime I go in, the noise mysteriously dissapears. Then as soon as I hop back in on my own, the noise returns. Go figure. I've taken my wheels off and looked, but I'm still not sure what I'm looking for.....
I found the source of my squeak, but forgot to come back here and post what I found.
Please bear in mind that this applies to my situation. You may have something similar, or it may be the brakes as indicated above.
I installed Hotchkis Sways. The squeak on my C was coming from the front sway bushings. I had lubed them on install per instructions, but I guess with the roads, my driving style , and the tight bushings, the lube all squeezed out.
I've dropped the bar twice now to re-lube. I also had a conversation with the guys at Hotchkis to see if I did something wrong. The did suggest that I use some premium suspension lube that I have yet to pick up.
Mike,
Did you install the Hotchkis sway bars too? I also am getting a sqeaking sound from the front at low speeds when I hit a bump. My driver's side Kw2 piston is also leaking and I only had it installed 700 miles ago. But I know thats not making the squeaking noise. I also think it's the sway bars that I put in.(Hotchkis)I heard you need to lube it with a special lube.

IMPORTANT:Be sure to grease the sway bar bushings at least once a year (15,000 miles) or whenever excessive noise occurs. Use a non-lithium grease to lubricate the bushings. Lithium grease can wash out with water and should not be used.
Synthetic grease likely has lithium, and is not recommended.
