Lowering a leased car

Hey guys I leased my 300C SRT-8 and I was thinking bout putting some 22's and changing the springs. I know I'm not suppose to but if I put the old springs back in when I return the car would they know it's been changed? Thanks

I’m no mechanic, but I would definitely be worried about doing something to the suspension and then them finding out about it and charging fees for “extra” wear and tear or worse. Then again if they don’t go over the car with a fine tooth comb they may not even notice. Risky business I would say….jmho. Good luck in your decision.

You should be ok you would have to put the stock springs back in and then if you just lowred it with springs you would probably have to put new shocks in it also. Tell you the truth with a leased vehicle I wouldnt go through the trouble to lower it. It will cost to much and then in 2-3yrs later you gotta put everything back to stock so you gotta pay for that. I would put rims on it but I wouldnt lower it. If you want to do that then buy the car and you can do whatever you want to it.

Thanks for the response fellas. Guess I'll leave the car stock. When I leased the car I wasn't planning to mod it, but after seeing all the nice fixed up 300s on here I couldn't help wanting to. Anyways, lets just say I did decide to do it, how mich would it cost me to return it to stock?

I can see your point. 22's with no lowering looks really dumb. It actually looks like the car is lifted and then oversized wheels were installed. On the other hand, when you have 22's and lowered, it looks sick. Me personally would keep it stock if I were leasing. 20's look pretty damn sick and actually perform better. Another thing you need to worry about is if you have to bring it in to the dealer while it is lowered (and you will have to) they are going to make a note about the car suspension being modified. That is not a good thing on a leased vehicle.

If you're bumping up against the mileage limit on the lease, the 22's would give you an extra 10% of actual mileage before the odometer goes over the limit! Just swap back the wheels before returning it.

Lowering is harder, you'll have to decide if it's worth the effort.

labor wouldn't cost a thing except your time if you did the swap yourself. still, the dealer would probably make note of it when you brought it in for service before the lease ended.

Thats if you do it yourself!! I lowered mine myself but my friend took his to a shop and they charged him $300, then you have to pay $250-$300 for the springs then you would have to another $300 for them to switch it back to stock. Just isnt worth it! Well to me anyways!!

Hey 5miles from DC which way?? I am about 30 miles south in good ole HoodBridge!!!
