Installed new Steering Wheel

Hello Everybody, I really need some help on this matter. I just had the dealer install a steering wheel that can off of a 2006 300c and installed into my 2006 base model.

The tech said that he could not get the radio controls to work nor could he get the horn to work. I said that I was fine without the radio controls but I need the horn to work!!!. IT HAS TO PASS INSPECTION.

My question is can anybody please tell me what to do to make the horn work. It sounds off when I set the alarm. But nothing when I press the airbag.

thanks

I should think it would be a simple connection to the horn wire that was already there unless they don’t match up. I’m sorry, but I’ve never exchanged steering wheels before. You have to have a horn though…the dealership didn’t offer any kind of explanation why the horn wouldn’t work?

The tech told me that the wires were different. the new wheel has one green wire and one white. the old wheel has both white wires. I'm really not sure as to what to do now!!!!!!!!

try splicing them together, if it doesn't work, switch 'em. If that doesn't work... then I don't know, lol.

Surely the two wires serve the same function….just colored differently??? Like CPL says try one and if it doesn’t work try the other?? Good luck!

The wires are connected to the plug. So they would have to cut the plugs of the wheel and the clock spring?

man I really need some help on this. I hope i didn't waste my time and money buy this and having the dealer install it. It really looks good with all of the rest of the woodgrain that I haver in the car.

Cpl D you saw it when you came by Lukes house.

Yeah it would look good (btw, I think my gf got me new door pulls for christmas, so if you still need the ones I got I might have them for you soon) I can't wait to check it out.

Why did you take it to the dealer? I think luke could've helped you install it, from what I've seen it's not too difficult to take the wheel off.

You'll have to cut the plugs off, if you're not comfortable doing that, make some adapters from some assorted goodies at radio shack.

Cpl D,

Yes I still WANT them! I had to take it to the dealer because if the special wheel puller that had to be used. they charged me $46.00 to put the new one on.

I tried to get in touch with Luke but he has been sick. I'll get him to look at it also.

Well I don't know if she got me them or not, or if she got me both sets, but whenever I replace mine the old one are yours.

Def have luke take a look if you can track him down.

Thanks Cpl D,

Let me know when you are ready. I called him today to take a look but he did not answer the door.
