Car not level

Hello,

I seached but couldnt find an answer. I have a 2005 300c hemi with 22" boss rims and 265-35-22 tires. its lowered 2" with "Progressive" brand springs i believe they are. Anyways the front sits at the perfect height and just grabs the inner fender lips on bumps when turning. The back is way higher and the car has a bit of "rake" to it. The car was level before when it was stock height. My question is why? Did they install the rear springs upside down or something? Or were there maybe rear bumpstops or something that should have been trimmed? Anyone else have this problem? Oh yeah its a RWD only.

I want the back about an inch lower.. should i take off a coil or 2 to level it? As long as the springs arnt loose in there after is should be ok to trim a bit.

Any ideas or feedback would be awesome!

Ya i know i should get an air ride setup one day, but for now... hahaha

I am knew to the forums bro, but not new to the tuning world. NEVER CUT COILS! the coils are precisely wound in coilers to accomodate your cars weight, each coil has a specific give point. cutting coils will ultimately change the suspension's characteristics, and not in a good way. Besides, you bought a 300 right? dont go rice and cut coils , leave that to people who sit in front of walmart and try to race .....in Montucky here, none of the ricers have seen a 300, let alone an SRT8! so they got rude awakening from a "grocery getter"

The car from the factory has a rake to it. For the front I would have the fenders rolled to eliminate any rubbing up front. As for the rear, I wouldn't suggest to cut the coils let alone 2. Give it a week or so and see where it sets. This is the reason so many of us have gone to coil-overs, instead of springs. They allow you to adjust the height and the damper with the KW V2's. They are more money, but you can't beat teh flexibilty and the quality.

Yeah..what Fatchance said! If you purchase springs this is what you'll run into, as this has been my personal experience.

ive had the springs in for a few months.. they arnt gunna settle. it has way to much rake and more than factory. i;m gunna cut off a coil and see what happens. Worst case i buy new springs.. whatever. haha i;ll post a before and after pic. i know about spring rates etc etc but one coil off the top or bottom cut properly isnt going to make any difference except for side height and alignment.

I was just looking to see if anyone else had this issue

You should take a look at the KWV2. You can keep buying new springs, but you will never truly be happy until you can adjust your height and damper to exactly the settings that you want. Everyone has a different look their going for. The KWV2 gives you that ability to personalize.

Incrediable performance capability and looks that can kill.

I don't really know much about suspensions but seems like I read in an earlier thread on here somewhere that if your 'C' has self leveling shocks in the rear, you will have that problem unless you change the shocks to the ones that are used on the touring models, when you change your springs, or like it has already been suggested, go with the coil-overs.

Well if you’re going to cut them you may as well heat them like the old time low riders used to do. That will drop if for sure.

(j/k….be careful cutting as it isn’t recommended)
