Comprehensive Lowering Spring Thread for AWDs
|
I've been doing some research tonight on lowering springs for the AWD. I figured I might as well post a comprehensive thread that discusses all the options for the AWD to the best of my knowledge, to make sure I and fellow AWD owners know what their options are for lowering.
Mopar - lowering spring kit does NOT fit AWD - provides about a 1" drop all around on RWD cars.
Eibach Pro-Kit - Can be found on eBay for about $250 shipped - lowers the car (on average) about 1.5" all around, but wears out the shocks and struts prematurely -- Eibach Pro-Damper Kit does NOT work on AWD cars, but does work on RWD in conjunction with the RWD Pro-Kit Lowering Springs.
KW V2 - Complete coilover suspension kit - cost $1350 shipped on eBay - lowers the car anywhere from 1.18" to 2.18" front and rear - seems to be the best/safest option in looking for lowering SPRINGS...
Air Bags/Air Suspension - varies in price, but costs at least a few thousand dollars and requires significant modification and components - provides complete suspension control and adjustability.
Please correct me on any of my information if I'm wrong - I'm just making sure I have the all the current options available covered - it would have been nice to have the mopar springs for only a couple hundred bucks and have that mopar warranty along with it, but currently that isnt available for AWD - any news of mopar coming out with an AWD set? How about Eibach coming out with a compatible AWD Pro-Damper kit? Are there any other suspension options I missed? (I hope there are!)
