Bump Stops: Shave or leave alone ??

I have quite a few discussions about bump stops. Some say shave the rears when installing a lowered spring and some say leave it alone

What are some opinions out there about this?

Here is a thread that addresses your concern. There is a link to an interesting article inside you may want to check out as well. Good luck and hope it helps!

Maybe the reason for shock failure and bad ride!!

Well the sole purpose of shaving the bump stops is to make the car that much lower! I know a lot of people with mini trucks just chop it in half cause it makes the rear lower.......But if you cut to much you can start to have some issues!!

the bump stop wont make your car higher or lower UNLESS your car is already sitting on it because its been lowered. If that is the case you might as well not have dropped it because your only getting half the drop. Their main function is to stop your suspension from excessive travel but this typically isnt possible with the stiffer drop springs so all you are doing is clearencing it to allow some travel. And no minitruckers are getting drop from cutting bump stops, take it from a minitrucker.

it only lowers the truck more if the truck is sitting on them and if thats the case they should have been replaced when the truck was dropped.
