Hey Mikey,
That was my thread, and I have to say the rear springs were a beatch. I ended up making 5 trips to finally finish the install.
I found the smaller hinged-type compressor at a locally owned tool rental shop. The Schucks and other chain stores won't have the right kind.
I actually broke the compressor half-way through and returned it. Then I couldn't find another so I went back and begged to get it back and fix it. I knew the owner from High School, or I wouldn't have been able to swing that one (any normal shop would never loan out a damaged tool in fear of the liability if something went wrong).
I would suggest you call around the Mom & Pop tool rental shops and you may find the right one.

It makes me wonder what the professional shops use; these are popular cars to get lowered & it's done all the time! Maybe there is another way?

Good luck!

Jay

When I lowered my car, I thought the rears were gonna suck. Turns out they were easier than the front. Jack the car up and place on stands. Use your floor jack to support the center of the rear end. Work on one side at a time and remove the large 18 mm bolts, one in front and one in rear. SLOWLY, lower the jack. The one side will drop far enough to remove the spring without the need of any compressors. Do not lower it any more than needed. If you remove the bolts on both sides at the same time you will need an alignment to correct the angle in which the car drives. This may seem a bit weird, but it works.

Just take the four bolts out of the rear sub-frame and lowwer it with a jack. You will not need to use a spring compresser to do the job and it makes it a snap.

Yup, no spring compressor needed for the rear. The direction posted in the LX forums shows you exactly how to lower the rear end to where the spring just falls out. I did it exactly how the write up says and it went smooth.

Great info!!!

Man, I wish I knew this when I did my install. I am going to do this again anyway to further lower the rear, so I'll take pics and revise my TTR procedure.

Ain't this place great?
