Why Must KW 2's Cost So Much !!

I REALLY want to drop my SRT8 a little bit to compensate for the wheel gap that is far more noticeable while running 22's. Not too much as I like as much ground clearance as possible. The low cost alternative Eibach springs are attractive, but from everything I've read on here it's not the proper way to lower the ride height while retaining maximum performance (bouncy, worn shocks). The KW's are so expensive! I wanna drop, but not sacrifice handling, and my only choice is them !! What do I do !! Wait until the time comes when I can justify spending 1500 on these? I know right now is not the right time to get them, as I'm buying a new home, BUT I really don't like how high my ride looks. I think Chrysler raised the SRT8's back up after all the broken front lips they've had. BUT I think it's a bit too high, handling is still superb, but too high. I had my same rims on my 06' 300C and the ride height issue was NOT as noticeable. If only my '07 SRT8 had the same ride height settings as my '06. Any way to fix this? What does DCX change to alter their stock ride heights? Any other options than the Kw's (i know most people will say NO)? Do I have to just wait it out until I have more cash? I really want to finish the MAIN mods to my ride as quickly as possible, and enjoy it ! Any thoughts appreciated.....

buy the eibach spring/shock combo, and you wont have to deal with the stock shocks that arent meant to be lowered. And dont make inpulse auto purchases when you're planning on buying a home.

I hear ya on the impulse purchases. That's why I'm trying to find a low cost alternative to the KW's

Is it really the same? Same manufacturer? Same design? I haven't seen too many people on here swear by the ST. Haven't heard much about them at all. I want a drop but don't want to sacrifice performance.

I agree, KWs are FAR too expensive for what they're are.

Quality for sure, but c'mon, for $1500, they should be at least double-adjustable AND be electronically adjustable like the Teins.

I would get the Teins. Adjustment on the fly is nice.

If and/or when TEIN becomes available, I'm sure they'll be priced above KW.

Shop around for coilovers. Do your research. Do you need v2's? How often do you really think you're going to adjust the dampening? KW v1's are resold as several different brands (often cheaper in price). For example, Mopar's coilover kit is actually the KW v1.

G'luck.

Tein's are ~$250 cheaper than the KW V2s:

eBay Motors: Tein Super Street Coilovers for 06+ Dodge Charger R/T (item 180123269613 end time Jun-24-07 19:57:14 PDT)

Of course, another $350 for the EDFC, but well worth it!

Dude, you really need adjustability. The KW V2s ride SOOOO much better than the stock SRT8 suspension. I cranked the dampning down so it rides nicer, yet it still handles great (probably b/c I lowered it and w/the Eibach sways). However, being able w/a pushbutton, adjust the ride is the ultimate!

Tein doesn't show the SS avail. for the 300, only b/c they haven't done any testing on it and don't want to get sued for saying it works.

Yet I would be SO SURPRISED of the Charger kit doesn't fit on a 300.

very good question, i'll be looking forward to see what u do... i'll be getting 22"s in july, and i know i'm going to have to drop her... i am debating eibach as a quick fix but going with kw's or lein's as the permanent fix...

Can you adjust the dampening only from inside the car with the Tein? Is ride height adjustable from inside (I'm guessing no). I bet the ride is much better with Kw's or something like the tein. BUT i think the srt8 handles pretty damn well now, if not because of my 22's. I feel like I'm on rails most of the time. A cheaper drop without much change to the stock setup would yield better performance due to lower center of gravity. Cheapest possible coil overs seem to be the best bet for me. What are my options?
