Suspension problem with the rubbing stuff

Hi guys! I just joined and I have a question that i hope some of you pros out there can answer.... The problem is this, I'm a big guy, and me and my other 2 friends that always like to ride my car are pretty big too we're like 6 ft and up and weigh around 760-770lbs with all of us sitting. The thing is I have these rims and since its heavy if I drive on a little bump the rear wheels rub with the wheel well...what I need to know is if I put a whole new lowering suspension kit, would that stop the rubbing? or do we all need to lose a bit of weight I need to stop that rubbing so my mom's wont make me take them off It looks pretty high from this pic

IMO lowering the car with KW coilovers or other suspension will worsen the problem. The coilover springs are a little stiffer, but not enough to keep the car from dropping from the extra weight.
I say this because I have KW coilovers and when my wife and dog are in the car (about 200lbs added weight) I always scrape bottom when backing out of my driveway. Me alone I don't scrape bottom. Fully loaded with wife and dog I wouldn't scrape bottom on the stock suspension.

If you didn't have the problem with the stock wheels, then your problem is the wider tires/rims. Maybe an alignment shop can cut/modify the wheel well area to stop the rubbing.

Depends on where it is rubbing. Did it rub with the stock wheels with the 760 extra lbs? 760lbs is a lot of extra weight, even for the stock set-up. I have seen stock cars with 3 passengers and the car sits real low, probably 1.0" lower.

Roll your fenders - any good wheel shop/body shop should be able to do it for around $100

Wow thanks for the replies guys!! No.. it doesn't rub with the stock wheel we had me 276, friend 260 , girl (100?) another girl (120?) I had to take them out for now because i didn't want any more damage for my cars and tires..

Oh and pukka what does rolling my fenders mean? will it change the look of the car dramatically?

Here is a thread on rolling the fenders. Inside this thread is a link to another thread which is also real helpful.
http://www.300cforums.com/forums/ext...olling+fenders

That is why I asked earlier where you are rubbing. Rolling the fenders might help if your tires are rubbing the fenders. But if you are rubbing somewhere else then you are going to have to try something different.

All fenders have a small (1/4-1/2") lip on the inside of them. Rolling the fenders basically means pushing that lip up into the fender well. This is probably what your wheels are rubbing on - dont worry its a VERY common practice and EASY to do with the right tools. From the outside, youll never know its been done so visually there will be no change.

The other alternative is you get an alignment with a slightly more aggressive rear negative camber. itll stop the rubbing and give you marginally better corning grip, but at the expense of increased tire wear.

Man rolling the fenders appears to be the answer to my problems! I was talking with one of my workmates and he actually had his fenders cut inside and I thinking to myself, "I'm not Cutting my car!" he showed it to me it looked like someone really cut it and it wasn't a clean cut either. I hope I can find someone in Irvine or Santa Ana or something :-P Rolling FENDERS and putting special shoes as soon as I find a shop. Those threads were a HUUUUUGE help! So many things I want to do to this car it makes my head spin.

Did you end up rolling the fenders? If so, did it fix your problems?
