i have a simple question, but cant find a simple answer

lets make this easy:

if i want to lower my 300 base, can i just put on some springs (for instance eibach pro kit) or do i HAVE to change the factory shocks as well?

for those who have lowered the car with springs and havent touched anything else, how many miles have you driven and have you had any problems?

i cant find a simple answer to this. some people say the stock shocks will crap out in 6 months, others claim no problems.

thanks guys,

David

The shocks are not designed for the lower springs, eventually they will blow out. Pay now or pay later, might as well do it all at once and save some on the labor unless you intend on doing it yourself.

I am only passing on what I have read, but it appears 1 year is the most your stock shocks will survive. I originally thought it was 6 months, but I dug further and it seems to be more like a year, depending on your driving habits.
This is one of the threads I am referring to.

Look it does not matter if it is 3, 6 months or a year the fact remains they will blow and there are many things that effect that. If you wait you will pay the same amount of labor that you paid to have the springs put in, why not pay one price to have them installed at the same time. They will let go....sooner or later. If you know this ahead of time why not do a liitle preventive maintenance. Additionally if you do the shocks and dampers you will be so much happier with the way it handles, if you care about that. IMHO! LOL

well, on other cars, the stock shocks havent crapped out untill 60k miles or so. is this the same deal with chrysler?

i guess if the shocks crap out, we can put stock springs back in and take it in for warranty work.. lol

I don't know what other cars you are talking about, the 300 is a pretty heavy car. The fact that you changed the springs that caused the shocks to blow out they would no longer be covered under warranty.

altima shocks... and those were pretty damn soft to begin with... car weighs about 400 pounds less than the chrysler

and how would they know if we had lowering springs installed?

by the way, if we use srt8 springs with the 300base shocks (to lower it a bit this way) would that cause the shocks to crap out as well?

I have been searching for this same answer bro... everything I have ran into tells me that the stock shocks WILL take a dump at about 6 months to a year. So... everyone SUGGESTS doing the dampers, shocks, and springs all at the same time. However, I see nothing wrong with just doing springs and saving up for the shocks until later.
