front end making a popping sound

Hey every one I was wondering if any one can tell me why I am getting poping sound when I turn my wheels. I just put a new set of 22's on last friday. I had 22's on it before and I didn't have any problems. It only happens when I turn my wheels left or right when backing up to park (I always back in). Not sure if it is the weights on the lip of the inside of the rim hitting the control arm. i put my hand back behind the rim where they meet the control arm and there isnt any room feels like the rims is up aagainst the bar. So i pulled one of the rims off to see if there was any scratches on the rim and there wasnt any. i was amazed that the wheels turn since they are so close to the control arm.

I ordered the KYB GR-2 shocks on Friday they will be here next week. I hope that will help. Unfortunatly they dont make a shock for the rear so I will have to go with a different brand (Monroe Sensa-trac) I think that I will wait to replace the rear.

If its a grinding noise it is the wheel nicking the spindle. It only does it in reverse because the car has alot of negitive caster when going forward (for that good handling), but when its in reverse its alot of positive caster. With the little bit of flex its just enough to cause the wheel to hit the spindle. What i did on mine to fix this is to slightly grind (about 1/10 of an inch) the spindle right where the wheel is and the noise is gone.
