As an update, I just got the replacement bushings today and had them installed; it appears to my untrained eye that one was totally unlubricated on the inside, and the other (less broken up) only lightly lubricated. I'm guessing that's indeed the issue.

Thank God because I was starting to get scared. Thought I would have to drop the rear cradle again. I grease mine so much it should last forever...atleast I hope.

This probably deserves it's own thread, but has anyone been successful greasing the rear sways after installation?

I tried greasing the rear hotchkis sways and I could'nt find an adapter that could fit in the tight space above the zerk fitting.
Hotchkis should have given us a 90 degree zerk fitting, like this one

Instead, Hotchkis gave us these vertical zerk fittings which doesn't give enough room to fit a grease adapater.

I tried a right angle grease adapter, similar to this pic, but I couldn't get it to work.

I have a grease gun like this pic. And it barely reaches the zerk fitting.

For anyone that is planning to install hotchkiss rear sways, buy 90 degree zerks, it will make it a lot easier to later grease.

I also tried this needle nozzle with some success, but it is not a good solution.

Okay, excuse my ignorance...but the inside of the bushing should be lubricated, right? In other words, the round hole where the bar passes through. That's the portion that was unlubricated, and my assumption was that the bar simply tore it up by not being able to freely twist.

If you aren't supposed to lubricate in there, and just lubricate the outside, then I will be sad because I won't have a good clue why the first set failed

Yes, the grease goes on the inside of the bushings. The rear sway bar zerk greasable fittings have a hole so the grease can reach the sway bar.

Here is a pic of my old/original bushings after about 18k miles.
The bushings look like they held up pretty good, and no deterioration.
The second pic is the replacement bushings I received from hotchkis.

But my problem was squeaking, not thunking or banging noises.
I have the same issue with my front bushings. Thanks for this info, Joey. Time to give Hotchkis a phone call.

When ever you deal with urethane bushings it is imperative that you only grease liberally the rotational portion of the bush. Make sure that none gets on the load bearing surface as this will cause the bush to wander or walk out.

Last week I gave them a call told them my busings were squeaking they sent me all 4. Today I replaced the front ones and I could see about 80 percent of the grease was gone. Hotchkis said the inside diameter was wrong and the grease will work it's way out.
