Noise in rear from KW install?

It's been about a month and a half since my KW install and I'm starting to get a clunking in the rear over bumps. Could this maybe be from something loose from the install? Does anyone else get a clunking over bumps?

Thanks!

Not from the KW's, but it is a bit more clunks since the ride is a bit more jarring over the bumps. I think mine is sometimes the exhaust banging something, or maybe the trunk lid...

I have never had any clunking in the rear. Something needs to be re-tightened/torqued.

Yeah, after the snow melts I'll jack it up (don't wanna get soaked) and see what I can find. It def. sounds like something loose because it's getting worse and it's loud.

Yeah, Mine isn't really a clunk, but on hard bumps (when I don't see them ) I hear something, maybe even in my trunk, who knows. Definitely have yours looked at...soon

I had the same issue and mine DEFINITELY was the shocks. Started in the drivers rear then progressed to passenger rear. Went away completely with warranty replacement in June, now its back. Taking it in to get checked on thursday.

Where on Long Island did you get them installed (I live on L.I. as well) Anyway, I think it's the rear shock assembly. When you install the KW set-up, you are unable to use the stock circular rubber bushing that was around the stock shock absorber in the rear because the KW shock assembly is much larger in diameter. There is just about "0" clearance between the new KW's and the body of the car. This will make it seem like there is a thud coming from your trunk. It hasn't happened to my car...yet, (I have only had the KW VII's for about 300 miles)... but after looking at the way the shock fits, it seems like it would almost have to happen eventually. Not all members with the KW have experienced this though. To XLR8R, what did you get warranteed? The entire shock and spring assembly??? Just the shock assembly??? A part of either the shock assembly or spring??? Who warranteed it? KW directly??? Or, the vendor you purchased the KW's from??? Did they cover the cost of re-installation??? since that can be pricey. Good Luck

The guy that installed mine did it completely wrong and I had to reinstall them myself. I actually took the rear assembly out and reinstalled it. I'm starting to think it's not the KW's. When I hit a bump, listening carefully, it sound more like a rattle. Like kinda tinny (if that's a word). Hard to describe. I've had shocks that thud before but this seems to me more like something's loose and banging around over bumps. It's so cold and wet out and I've been so busy at work that I'm finding it hard to find the time to jack it up. Just now when I kicked the rear bumber I got a clanky rattling sound. Sounds really sh1tty. Something a $50K car shouldn't do. Maybe that's it?

They checked by HPA motorsports in Surrey BC, About HPA Motorsports Inc. in conjunction with KW North America. First replaced rear shocks under warranty. Now tomorrow going in to get clunking checked again, as the replacement one is now clunking (just the drivers side so far, but thats how they started before, drivers first then passenger...) I'll keep you posted on the diagnosis. I must say KW and HPA have been quite good about it all.

Adam, check your rear bumper valance to see if its loose, the gap between it and the rear bumper valance sometimes loosens up and if you "kick it" it will be noisy. There is an easy fix for that, I did it on mine.
