Is 2" drop too much for daily driving?

I'm new to the board, and researching the LX series of cars, with a particular affinity towards the 300C, with the 5.7, as it comes with bigger brakes (13.6 in for the 300C, vs 12.6 for the standard R/T, at least according to Motor Trend). I know I want to have a car that handles fairly well, but I don't want to push cigarette butts down the road, either. I want a drop that would be useful for the street, where I wouldn't need to worry too much about speed bumps, or negotiating driveway curbs. What is ground clearance with a 2" drop?

I'm leaning towards the eibach pro system +, as I was thinking more along the lines of a 1.3" front/1.5" rear drop.

Thanks guys. I'm sure I'll be learning a lot from this forum.

Well,

i have a 2" drop, and have zero problems negotiating anything. If you have decent roads without large holes (which you should in Georgia). 2" is no problem.

If it was a concern for you to be that low or lower all the time, you could always bag it!

I think that is a great question. I am considering a 2" drop, but thinking 1.5" might be better. Our 300B (Base, LOL) scrapes the front end if we pull out of the driveway too fast, and it has not even been modded yet! So good intl on this is crucial.

My front is 1.25" lower and rear 1.50" lower after installing KW's.
But I am riding on 255/45/20's, which makes the car sit about 0.4" higher than the stock 18" wheels. So compared to the stock 225/60/18"s wheels I am sitting about a 1.10" lower in the rear and 0.85" lower in the front.

I lightly scrap bottom almost everyday backing out of my driveway into the street. I have to inch my way out very slowly and angle it hard to avoid the scraping. If I have the extra weight of a passenger in the car I usually always scrap bottom.

But other than my driveway, I rarely scrap bottom. Sometimes I scarp my front right/left fascia on deep driveway entrances.

If you are going to carry passengers you are going to have more difficulties.

This pic is before I lowered my car, which is sitting 0.4" higher than stock. After I lowered my car I will scrap bottom every time if I back out straight, like in the picture below.

Pics attached are before and after the car was lowered.

The thing that I tell people that want to lower their car is that they have to "think more" when their driving. Have to go into and out of some driveways slowly and maybe on an angle. Also need to watch out for parking blocks and speed bumps. 1.5" usually isn't a problem and 2" is the most that I would want to go down. Actually, if it was me I would go with 1.5".

i had mine dropped 1.8 with the H&Rs and it was cool.....just keep an eye out and ride with more care.. i usually would hit the driveways straight on because the tire would sometimes catch the edge of the fender if i drove at in angle

I was on the fence too but chose to err on the side of caution and went with the 1.5 drop. I'm very happy with it and think its as low as I need it to be...

I don't have a problem with my 2" drop, but as Tom said, you definitely have to think more when driving!! Here's mine with a 2" in back, about a 2.2 inch in front.....

Wow Cueball, your 2.2" in the front does not look as low as taylormotorsports 1.5". Must be the rims? Definately hard to guage. The pics make it a bit easier. I had 18" wheels on my other car about 8 years ago when the big wheel craze started hitting but I never lowered that car and it gace it a funny lifted look. I dont want to make the same mistake on this car.

Yeah, that 1.5 drop looks much lower than the 2"... I still cant pull the trigger either. I have the 1" in my hand and am seriously thinking about going for 1.5 (until I saw taylormotors front end) love the look but a little low for me. And I occasionally have a full load out for dinner or a meting...
