We are always looking for new Pedders Quality Dealers. The first and most important criteria is that the shop must have eXtreme Customer Service as the cornerstone of their business culture. We can teach installation Best Practices. We can teach the finer points of alignments. We cannot change the business culture. If you have a shop in mind, please let me know. We take very good care of clients that assist us in our Dealer Development efforts.

After all that, you find Kenny and Mike and the entire crew at Waukegan Tire to be exceptional people. They are a family owned business. Jerry, the owner, must be 70 years young. He is a shop equipment techno junkie. They have the only Bluetooth, torque wrench system in the country that is integrated to the business main frame. The tolerance for proper wheel lug torque is down to I think three pounds. The wrench 'talks' to the tech and they have to torque each lug nut withing a couple of pounds to allow the front end to close out the ticket. You get a print out of each lugs torque value... then there are the flush to the floor alignment racks... WT is worth a four hour drive.

I will be ordering the Bump Steer kit through the Fairfield store. They will do the install. Do you have any pics of an installed bump steer kit? I don't have a clue where it goes.

These bushes replace the OE rubber bushes in the steering rack mount. Press the OE out and insert the red ones. Clock them so the eccentric hole in in the 6:00 position.

This would be a great place to discuss what you describe as 'the problems I'm experiencing I thought were design choices.' What suspension / tire issues are you experiencing?

Got it. If my logic is right, the Pedders bushes will lower the steering rack about 1/4" to 1/2"?

Why do you think Chrysler didn't design the car this way in the first place? Will the changed position of the steering rack cause stress in other areas, like the inner or outer tie rods?

I don't have a problem with the car's bump steer, but do I like to improve handling any chance I can.

Not a clue as to why it left the factory that way. You are correct, we lower the bush mounting hole and raise the rack. As far as stressing any component becuase of the rack relocation, the tie rod end and joints in the rack coupling are not at all stressed by the change in height.

What you can't appreciate is the difference this makes. Everyone that drives an LX has bumpsteer issues, unless they have installed a Pedders EP2113. As these are installed in the field we'll let the forum members sing the praises or disagree with me. Everyone is free to disagree with me. Keep in mind they will be wrong, but they are free to disagree with me.

I have discussed front end alignment wear with about 25 LX owners. many of them reported to me they have had to replace tires very rapidly due to toe problems. This was a common discussion at our Pedders Day in Fairfield, Ca. Excess tire scrub does cause rapid tire wear due to toe. There may be a relationship here that we need to investiage further.

Based on this, I will definitely be contacting them. outside of
various known chains, I don't know of any shops in my area, save
the local Midas (helped me a lot when I lowered my Grand Prix)....

It'll be a couple of months, so I figure sometime in June, but I will
carve out some time to see if I can start with 2 kits, EP2113 and EP1172.

These are basically my only complaints with the car and that's with
normal driving. I haven't had much opportunity to drive the car
in a spirited fashion given that I'm normally working 18 hour days.
But I have just reached 30K miles for a 12/2004 purchase.
