How important is it to us the "puller special tool 9360" to separate the tension strut ball joint stud from the knuckle? Is there another way to do this safely?

Just use a Big Hammer, smack the side of the knuckle near the tension rod ball joint, it may take a few good hits, and don't be shy with it, but it will pop loose.
You must have the Service Manual because that is the tool recommended. But googling didn't find the tool. It must be a Chrysler tool/number.
You might try a standard ball joint separator. You can get a free loaner tool from Autozone. AutoZone.com | In Our Stores | Loan-A-Tool Program
The dealer replaced my Tension Strut, so I can't provide any hints or help.
Never work under a jack and always use car stands when doing work like this, try and push your removed wheel under your car while you do work like this for extra safety
First crack the nut, 18mm spanner and undo the nut down the thread a few turns
Using a hammer hit the control arm where my hammer is a few times to get the balljoint to pop, it will pop out as the balljoint stud is tapered, note for yourself, leave the nut on to protect the thread of the balljoint and also watch out for your mud gaurd lip when striking the hammer, below the balljoint stub there is an allen key recess, use an allen key in this if your balljoint spins while you are trying to undo the nut after you pop the balljoint.
There you go, job finished. Any dramas please ask and we will help

hey, thanks for the pic and step by step but i am referring to the rod that is next to the part you removed. (in your last pic its the rod moving horizontally to the left.)

by the way are you from down under?
Hi mate, yeah I see what you need to remove, we call that the raduis rod arm over here, I would imagine by looking at my picks you would need to fully remove the front strut and then you can remove the radius rod arm to replace the bushes.
I had my tension strut bushings replaced with the ones from pedders. I also had to get my tie rods replaced.
I still get a bit of a clunk noise when i go over some bumps and dont get it when i go over others.
