If you have spacers, make sure they are installed correctly.
Mr Incredible had a vibration and found his spacers were installed backwards.
There is an inside and outside to the spacers.

Also, make sure all 5 lug nuts are tightened evenly.
If there is inconsistency in the torque, the wheel may not be centered correctly on the hub.

you can torque down the lugnuts with a torque wrench, i bought one from autozone for about 20 bux and its a good investment especially with aftermarket wheels. you should try to put on your stocks and see if you still get the vibration, i have a set of 22's on 265/35/22 and have noticed it does vibrate when driving but if i put on the stocks it rides smooth, im thinking its because i have a 5x114.3 bolt pattern on the rims instead of the stock 5x115.
i think the torque should be set at 100ft lbs,

Just to clarify, the Service Manual says to torque them to 110lbs.

The way I evenly tighten the lugs is lightly giggle the rim to make sure it is flag/snug with the hub while I am hand tightening all five lugs with the socket. After the lugs are hand tightened with the socket, I then use the torque wrench. I usually tighten each lug about 3 times as I criss cross to each bolt increasing the torque to 110lb on the last round. The purpose is to make sure the wheel is sitting flat and center against the hub.

At 19 I was in a brandy new JK Wrangler, but at 16 I was in a brand spankin' new Saab 9-3 Aero. That was a good time.

Back on topic...

I was experiencing horrific vibrations on my car last year and it turned out to be the inner tie rod ends, I had them replaced and the bad vibes turned good. The symptoms I was experiencing at the time were vibration above 55mph that dissipated in corners and under braking/acceleration, but was enhanced when braking on a decline. I also experienced drifting while driving, but like I said, this was all fixed by the new tie rods.

I'm experiencing a little bit of occasional vibration again, but this time it's constant, not intermittent like before. I'm replacing my shocks and struts with coilovers in the next few weeks and I'll report back to say if that helps at all. I might also just be experiencing road surface variations that I haven't encountered before, because it only happens at certain times. I'll have to go drive my car around...errrr...setup an empirical experiment.

Like Scarb's said. Rotating or temporarily replacing your wheels would help eliminate your wheels as the problem.

Also check your tension strut bushings. Many of the older cars bushing start to crack/tear. But I don't think it is normal for bad tension strut bushings to cause a vibration. They usually cause a clunking noise. This is a pic of my driver side bushing. You can easily see the bushing when the wheels are off.

Thanks Joey I forgot about the Eibach part. Yea the Stock struts won't last a year with only Springs and NO new Struts. My first Lower was eibachs and the struts did just that didnt last a year. So i sold the springs and bought a whole KW v2 system.

Also Joey you have a part# for the Tension strut I have to replace them on the Maggie.

Eric

Here are the part numbers. They were covered under my extended warranty so I don't have a price.

Reading through another thread I note that some people actually fit wheels to their cars that don't fit correctly and use spacers to 'make' them fit. If you have recently purchased some wheels, ensure they are 115mm PCD as opposed to 114.3mm. This alone may cause the problems you mention and will allow the wheel nuts to loosen and result in one having to check the tensions regularly which with the correct fitment will render that little job unnecessary. Just a thought that I felt was worth mentioning.
Spacers have been the cause of quite a few problems over here in Oz many years ago, but thankfully, were banned about 1972 along with 'multi-fit' mag wheels.

Oh man Are people still doing this putting the wrong bolt pattern on. I say if you can't get the right one don't buy those wheels. Find another Rim there are so many out there that you will find the right one.
