hey guys, im back and got good news....i just ordered the Eibach Pro-Damper Kit (Part # 2873.840) for my Touring and it should be in on Tuesday, which ill get installed on Wednesday hopefully if my shop has the time for install...im pretty content with the price i was given...cost me $635 out the door, i figure install will run bout $150-200 max. so im set i guess, but ill tell ya all if i would have known long ago i was going to grow through all this trouble and money (almost $1000 by now) i would have "bagged it" once and for all.....thanks again to all you guys that helped me on here will keep in touch
back in black...how long have you used the kit on your ride for? ive only had the sportline springs on stock shocks and struts for a year and the rattling, clunks and bumps are drivin me nuts...i've already ordered and paid for the damper kit..should have it by Monday and installed within the week...guess im due for another alignment after its put in?? I see your sporting 20" wheels too...how is the ride on them and did you have the TPM sensors installed with them too?
Bac n Black (Robert) is a neighbor of mine but I might be able to answer the Q's you have based on my experience.
I have the E Pro Kit and Dampers and have had them for 2+ years now. The ride is indeed stiffer and like BnB said the ride IS a little rougher over slightly bumpy roads but it handles well IMO especially since I too have Hotchkis front and rear sways installed.
But the look of the stance when it's lowered with this set-up is killer.
Now, as far as the clunking, I had my whole steering rack replaced recently and that helped get rid of the clunking (can you say tie-rods?) but I still have a little rattle which may be from my torsion rods which I will be replacing sometime soon.
I too am running on 20's on 255/45 series tires for more meat between the rim and the road and I had the TPMS installed so I wouldn't have the dreaded chime every ten minutes.
I have had mine for about 18 months now. The TPMS is installed. I like the twenties and won't go any bigger, IMHO the ride sacrafice in 22s is not worth the look.
thanks so much bac n black and big smooth, i really appreciate your input and advice...i too love the rake that the 300 gets from the Eibach springs but the ride is a gamble for me...so im gonna take a chance on the dampers with the springs and see how much closer it will feel to bone stock status..if it's not an improvement i might consider slapping the factory springs back....90% of my driving is highway traffic to work and back and the roads here in the Toronto area are littered with different height roads, potholes and raised manholes...it's literally a figure 8 pattern drivers have to do to get to work...thanks again..ill keep in touch
hey guys, just an update...just had the pro-damper kit finally installed last nite and all i can say is WOW!! what a frickin difference...no more clunks, rattles and pops (especially when i turn the steering wheel), i can now confidently pass over small imperfections on the road and in my opinion rides just as well as stock.., i realize ive only had them on the car for less than 50kms but i LOVE the improvement...thank you to everyone who helped me along the way...i should have had this all done the first time the right way!!
Patrick, yeah i love the springs and damper kit that i had put on...the front tho DID drop a bit more...i could tell but the ride is smooth and not jarring...the back didnt really drop that much more with the damper but the front did..im still using 17" wheels and now with the springs and struts there really isnt too much of a gap between at all...id say maybe an inch and a half clearance with doesnt bother me that much, used to it by now but the ride comfort definitely worth it...i will get some pics on my digital but not sure how to post pics on this site...i could email them to you directly if you PM me your email addy...have you given some more thought to the damper kit?
