05 Touring Awd Front Strut "adjustable"?

I WAS LOOKING UNDER MY FRONT END AND SAW WHAT LOOKED LIKE THE BASE OF THE STRUT SLIDES INTO A CLAMP/SLEEVE THAT THEN FORKS AROUND THE FRONT AXLE. MY QUESTION IS, IF I LOOSEN THE BOLT ON THAT CLAMP, CAN I LOWER THE POSITION OF THE STRUT? I RECENTLY PUT 22'S ON IT AND DONT LIKE THE GAP IN THE WHEEL WELL, AS THE AWD SITS HIGHER THAN THE RWD. JUST WONDERING. PLEASE DONT BASH ME.
