Coil Over Install Costs your experience?

I need some feedback from members that have coilovers. I contacted the Dallas area Pedders authorized dealer, SNL Performance, and asked about installing a set of Pedders coilovers on my SRT. They quoted me $2668.41

Thats $1730.91 (including tax) for the coilovers and 937.50 for labor. I can see paying a premium for the Pedders coilovers but that labor charge looks high for swapping out a set of shocks. What have you guys paid for this type of work? For a thousand large I'm looking at renting a spring compressor and doing it my self.

I paid 700 or so at soulspeed in austin to install my KW V2's, Hotchkiss sways and mount/balance four 3-piece reverse drop center wheels. Also included a 4 wheel alignment and not one speck of dirt on the car..

937 is a lot just for the coilover install...

... did Pedders ever actually come out with their coilover's yet? I saw another thread in their forum where someone was asking that question.

The local Pedders retailer says he can order them from the Pedders warehouse and have them in three days. I think he may not know what he is talking about and am having him verify with Pedders.

The thread asking Pedders about availablity is mine. I was hoping they were going to announce early adopter pricing but they haven't replied to the thread in the vendors forum.

Yeah, I thought it was yours, just too lazy last night to go look and make sure so I could credit you with it here...

I also wonder about the rear all in one true coilover.... will the top shock mounts take the added stress of also having the coil load there? Not designed for that much from the factory, I wonder if long term might cause some structural seperation or weakening from the added load. Probably not, but just wonder sometimes since the pedders look good and I will probably upgrade to the full pedders once all is sorted aout.

LOL, that is rediculous, but not too surprising coming from Pedders. I shopped around and was given different prices up to $650. In the end, I paid $250 for KW v2's at a place in Van Nuys that 36chambers hooked me up at. It only takes 1 to 1.5 hours if you know what you are doing.

did mine myself, (with the help of a local shop and DanRealtor). but if I had to pay I was quoted $450 - $650

the rear is a PITA, but the front is easy.

I do not believe the SNL would quote you that money for Xa strut install only. they probably looked up one of our Xa kits which include other parts.

The coil overs should be billed out at 3.5 hours install including custom height adjustment. Then you should have the toe reset front and rear.

There is going to be a pre-order special discount on the X COIL OVERS. Should be hitting this week.

So check it out. There are no LX Xas in the USA. The sets that we had were installed for testing.

Really? I can forward you the original email from SNL if you want, its still in my email inbox. Here is a copy and paste of the message.

-Original Email from Me-
Hi, can you tell me what it would cost to install the Pedders Xa Coilovers on a 2006 300C SRT8
-REPLY-

The install on that particular kit is $937.50, this includes the alignment.

The price on this kit is the same as what is on Pedders website, $1599.99 + 8.25% tax.

Your total for this kit installed is $2669.49. We will have to order this kit from the warehouse, this usually takes 3 days.

They did get back to me and say that the coil overs were not yet available.

really!!

To say they are charging you that labor for the Xas, when you are being quoted a Street Xa Package, is seriously different!!

Retail $1,599.99EA

Item Code Description Qty Availability
160059 LX SRT8 Xa eXtreme coilover 1 Contact for Availability
EP2113 LX Bump Steer Correction Kit 1 Available
EP6567 LX Front Radius Rod Bush 1 Available

I did reread your first post and you did say JUST the Xa coil overs. I have to assume it was a brain fart for not mentioning the front radius rod bushings and steering gear bushing.

Here is a breakdown of the labor for this job:

1. 3.5 hours for Xa install and final height adjustments
2. .5 hours for the steering gear bushing
3. 2.0 hours for the radius rod bushings
4. That is 6 hours plus alignment

Hope this helps
