Gauges are a waste for him because he has AUTO ride height controlers. Why would he need to worry about it? Definitely listen to the pros, the other 20 people who own a UAS setup on the forums that have gauges know nothing.
That's HILARIOUS that anyone would think you'd need a gauge!!! Especially when every single person on the forums who's recommended getting a gauge has actually OWNED air ride. Crazy, people these days... they're out of their minds... definitely deserving of an "lol".
Did you really think posting here would get a different response? The only reason Dove has posted he didn't need one is because his car sets his bags at an auto height with the touch of a button. You won't even have that... I'm beyond curious as to why this post would even pop up after you've received the exact same response from all the air ride users on the forums. Get a gauge...
That's perfect. Sounds easy, just pump your car all the way up, touch each bag down (since they don't all always drop at the same rate when you hit the "all down" switch), and just simply get out and do a walk around to check each corner to make sure they're dropped evenly. Simply repeat this process 3 or 4 times to get them where you want and you're all set! Sounds easy to me, just give yourself an extra 15 or 20 minutes to get your fender sittin' just right on the tire, and you're on your way.
Just quoting to confirm that even the one person who's posted on either forum agreeing at all that you don't need a gauge has an auto ride height controler. Meaning there's no need for one (but would be convenient for leaks/problem shooting still).
Thanks for posting Grounded, but the outcome is always the same, we know nothing... he knows everything (although this is his first car on air).
Alright guys, I am not here to say that anyone is right or wrong here. Gauges are purely personal option's. In my option, If your not looking to drive where your "tucking tire" or anything crazy like that, simply lay it out, and air it up to drive, then, its my personal option that you don't really "need" a gauge.
I would suggest to install the standard kit, and then if you want to run a gauge, then add it on. Your not going to be spending more by adding it on later vs. installing it at the same time and most customers that install the kit without a gauge, don't end up adding it on. I know that its very strange to hear a company that sells a product, not pushing something just to make more sales. But, i feel that by being honest with the customers upfront is better then pushing a sale that they don't even need and when they ask my option i will tell them the truth.
However, if you want to drive super low or have a not so standard setup, etc, then I would recommend running a gauge setup because that will change the dynamics on how the system will work.
Personally in my 300c, I have ran just the standard setup for many years and i would lay the car out, then when i would go to drive, i would hold the all up, and drive with it at that height, which is aprox 2" over front, and 3" over rear. Then if i wanted to drive with a "lowered" stance, i would tap the rear down once, and the whole car down once and that would put it at aprox 1" over the tire. That is how i have used my air setup for about the first 100k miles.
Since then, I have installed the AccuAir system mainly to see how the system performs (working on the demo video), because we have used the DD system for many years and it looked like it is the next latest and greatest also to see how it works in the "real world" because I wasn't too happy with the way that the DD would make the little adjustments when its not required, not to mention the "chatter". I am the "test dummy" on some of the new products we have worked on over the years (Koni's, Billet upper mounts etc) and some that havn't made it.
So, just to clarify, I am not trying to say that "don't bother installing gauges because everyone will never use it", I am simply trying to say that it is my personal option, if your just looking to lift up and drive like I have done for many years, I feel they are not required. However, if your going with multiple tanks, nitrogen, or want to drive really low then I would recommend gauges and if you want gauges, we carry the Dakota Digital Gauges, which, I feel is the best option for the LX's vs the analog gauge so that way you don't have to run the lines inside upto the gauges.
Please don't get me wrong, I would love to sell gauges on every kit that we sale, it would just make my sales that much better. But, I will be honest with you because I am a person that mods cars first and I don't like to see people spend money on something that they don't need. I am just trying to be honest and treat people the way that I wish that so many companies I have delt with in the past would have treated me.
I know without my gauges my fenders would be non-existent. As it is they are chewed up a bit from turning too low.
Totally agreed. The first time I rode around aired all the way up, my buddy riding with me said "why the hell did you spend all this money and time just to ride around jacked up towards the clouds?". Damn good point, tapped the switches down to the desired PSI on the gauge in each corner (basically until it rubbed, then up a few PSI ), and was on my way.
I feel like I've been ranting, but something about the OP rubbed me the wrong way. Being discredited to a certain extent (on multiple forums) regarding something as simple as using a gauge was ridiculous. Pro or not, I have real world experience with the exact questions that were posed, and yet my opinion was questioned. Had I stated it as fact, I'd understand.
well since I wont be to low, then the kit sould work out fine. If I ever feel the need to show off or "ride real low", then I guess I will get an gauge. Thanks every for your input and opinion. I guess it time for me to start working on the location of all the parts that will be installed. I will get a few large boxes in the day sometime. Wish me luck with the install.

I can assure you you will at some point want to ride low. That's why people typically get bags... so they can ride lower then coilovers or coils and have the adjustability to clear road obstacles that they couldn't have cleared before. Hell if I were looking to ride around like you are I would have thrown in a set of 2" drop eibach coils and called it a day.

yeah, but that's you. I want a smooth ride with out a wheel gap while riding. That the reason I hate coilovers( they are for racing), to harm for every day driving. If I could ride like stock with springs, then I would have done springs and call it a day.
obviously youre going to need gauges. if u want no wheel gap, you going to have to know what psi the bags have so you know at what heights your car is at. Like stated above, you would have to get out and set the car before driving off instead of just looking at the gauges inside the car.

I understand what you are looking to do. I typically ride around with no wheel gap which for me is liek 90 front/120 rear. I know if I were to just air it up I would be sitting HIGHER then stock by an inch or so.
If you still insist on doing your install this way let me recommend a cheap alternative. I would get some flow controlled mufflers.

this is over @ suicidedoors.com who is also a great air ride vendor (ask anyone on air who knows a thing or two bout a thing or two)
This will let you dump slow enough so you can adjust a little finer then with open dump valves.
Yea these are what I run in my acura they help out alot with being able to adjust. Also before I had to keep tapping the the dump switch when I wanted to pancake the car because if not it would slam down hard and now with these I can just hold it in and it goes down nbice and slow..
