38-50 would be better. Most do this and then roll the fender lips to give more clearance for the wheels. The most common spring for the car is from eibach just google them and check out the drop amounts.

I'm running the LTD AWD and looking to go to 22s as well. Is the drop different? I can't find any Eibach springs saying they will work with the AWD. I have a feeling I'm gonna spend all winter looking for parts to get this done in summer.

Lucky, (OR ANYONE for that matter), look into D2. I know they have a few different LX applications. They're basically resleaved (and colored) Megan racing coils. I've had 2 buddies use them on different cars for racing. I've ridden in the WRX with them and the ride is pretty nice. I plan on getting some myself. http://www.octanemotorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=19649&cPath=4098#goog lebase
