interesting convo with service mgr RE lowering

had a talk with my home chrysler dealership service manager....he said they have probably lowered 50-60 300C's for their customers....they initially were using the eibach kit, but found that some of the cars were coming back after about 7-10k miles with shock absorber issues. they then started going with a less agressive Goldline 1.25 inch drop and have not had any shock absorber issues with the goldlines. the drop looks nice as well, not too raked out looking....me likey

Question

Bart, can you ask them if they have had the Goldlines on any cars for 7-10k miles so as to make an accurate comparison?

You may have read that Hotchkis Performance will be using my car this month for R&D on springs and sway bars. They called me yesterday and are ready for my car next week.
The drop on their kit equals 1.25" on the Magnum, what it well end up being on mine remains to be seen, but I'd love to hear more if you can get that info... Thanks!

What kind of symptoms are we looking at for Shock Absorber issues. Several members here including myself will have to be on the lookout for it.

Bart

I'm not saying that your dealer is right or wrong. But I have over 15000 miles on my car since being lowered. I have never had any issues with the shock absorbers and my car rides great. I'm thinking and it's just a thought, they get a better deal on the Goldline and sell it for the same price. We are talking about the dealer who sells the Bentley style grill for $999 that you can buy for about $300 and installed for $50.00.

Kid - I don't remember where the thread or threads are, but there have been several posts lately about shock issues with lowered cars.
I'll see if I can link you later if you can't find them, let me know!

no offense intended john.....but u drive like an 87 year old woman AND you drive up and down and up and down the ooo sooo smooth 5 freeway to/from San Diego to garner those miles.

I think many people, me included, drive their C's much harder then you,(for instance today...ive probably heard the mighty yell of WOT at least 15 times, took some off/on ramps just fast enough to make those farkin contis scream a little, the bass turds and put on over 200 miles ;-)) and those would probably be the ones looking at potential shock issues.
