Spent this morning fighting the confined spaces of the facia corners to install the clear side markers and their stealth bulbs. For a second I thought I might be able to get access from above, but my arms are WAY TOO BIG to get past the headlamp housing. So put the car up on the ramps and go underneath.
After removing the facia pan between the facia and the engine pan (12 bolt-head screws and 6 push-pin plastic rivets) you can see the backside of the side markers. The rear side is a plastic snap-n-hold spring, and the forward side is a plastic pin onto which a self-threading 1/2in. (more accurately 13 mm) nut is tightened. With a quarter counter-clockwise turn, the bulb housing comes out and you can get the housing and wiring out of your way. Here's what the stock marker (passenger) backside looks like after the nut has been removed.
The black material is the end of the styrofoam bumper pad and it makes for tight quarters getting a wrench in there. If you're going to use a rachet then you need a "long" 1/2in (13mm) socket, otherwise the plastic pin will prevent the socket from seating on the nut. I used a 1/2 in. box-end wrench to wriggle in front of the bumper pad and work the nut off in not quite quarter turns.
The going was even slower on the driver's side because the air silencer further constrict room for wrench and hand... and I had to work left-handed and blind (believe me I tried to get my right hand/arm up there - no way). In the end I was able to work the nut off, but had to remove the silencer in order to tighten the nut on the install. Then there was plenty of room.
Aaron had suggested to "pre-thread" the new side markers and that is a VERY GOOD IDEA. In addition I used a hack saw to cut down the length of the plastic pin, so that a normal socket could be used to tighten the new markers. Why they don't cut that pin off in the first place is hard to understand. Here's a picture of the new side markers, threaded and one cut-down for illustration.
Here's the backside of the new passenger side marker installed and tightened.
I was surprised to find that the stock bulb is "clear" not amber...
Here's how it compares to the chromed Stealth Bulb...
Finally, the money shots... amber sides before conversion:
And the total match with the chrome theme of the H.E. after conversion:

The 300, touring and limited models use 3057 for both the front and rear turn signals.
The 300C and SRT's (why DCX did this I have no idea)
The front turn signals are 3157 and the rear turn signals are 3057.
The Silver tip 3057 that glows white that a member linked to, in this thread. That bulb is used for your reverse bulb. Silver when off, white when on.
The Stealth Auto 3157 bulbs are also silver tipped. But when they are on, they glow amber. The color needed for turn signals.
Stealth Auto is gauging interest from the members here to see if a 3057 turn signal bulb is feesible or not. The 3057 would be able to be used with the 300, limited, touring (F & R turns) and 300C,SRT (R turns).
There is the old school way and that is to take a 3157 bulb and your dremel tool.
Cut the nubs on the sides of the bulb, off. Slide the 3157 bulb that you just cut into a 3057 socket and there you go. It may not be as snug, and from time to time you need to check that the bulb did not come loose.

Or... set up a tool to apply the FreebirdSRT "old school" mod of the bulb and not have to refit the chrome machine for a different variety...
Just trying to think outside the box... er... bulb!
But that is just a trick I learned along the way, and brought up as a way to pass it on. But, today people seem to want to get a pretty package that has the correct bulb and 3057 stamped on there. A lot of members here seem to be first time modders and just taking the tail light off to change a bulb is foreign to them. Asking them to dremel something or fab a product then install it some may not want to even mess with a job like that.
It's the same for the replacement C-Tek brake pads. Many members would rather take the car to a shop and have them installed while others have done these type of installs for years and not afraid to take on the task at hand. Then there are others who after reading the forums and gain a little confidence then try it themselves. They get to exp. a big part of what makes it so much fun to work on your own baby. But if you don't like to get a little dirty or sweaty, take it to a professional to do it.
Aaron still needs to think about making the 3057's. Will have many sales here plus also be the only guy in town that is now making the hard to find 3057 in silver tip but glows amber....hint, hint Aaron.
Aaron if you look at the sales numbers as well of just the 300. There will be more sales of the Base, Touring and limited, than 300C and esp SRT's. The latter 2 are just more popular for the aftermarket Co. to make products for. But you sell bulbs. Like in Field of Dreams. If you make it they will come.

I'm kinda in the same boat. I could picture myself messing up the new 3757 bultb trying to get them to fit into the 3057 connector. $30 out the window.
