TECH TIP REVIEW: DIY Lower Vent Grilles

I just finished putting on my "new to me grill" thanks to 93VR4 for selling me the grill at great price! I also took out the silencer and fabricated some lower vent grills, I had a idea and tried it out. What do ya think? I know the car is getting plenty of air now. I do not see how the air can even get in with that silencer on!

Thanks josho. The mesh is actually from lowes it is used to cover gutters. Not sure if this has been done but it was not that hard....Take the black plastic vents off and cut the centers out of them just under the slots then just cut the mesh a bit bigger and cut slots in the mesh to match the slots on the plastic. Put the mesh on the four slots on the bumper then put the plastic vent frame (that you cut the center out of) over the mesh and clip it back in just like it was when you took it off. The center grill I made from the same stuff but used the clips that came with the mesh that is supposed to clip to the gutter, I just cut it a bit bigger and clipped it to the opening in a few different areas.

Sorry to add to this again but one thing I forgot was to let those that dont know about the speed nut and body bolt helpful hint. I remember seeing this in another post and it is a awesome idea....Thanks to whoever it was that posted that info it was pure genius!
When you take off the 6 (3 on each side) push fastners in the front part of the fender wells just replace them with speed nuts. There is a notch on the facia that the speed nut just clips right in like it was made to fit, so now you can screw the inner fender well to the facia instead of using those plastic push fastners that break almost every time! Plus it saves you from buying the plastic fastners everytime you take the front end off. I used 1/4-20 speed nuts and body bolts and it worked like a charm.

Here is a speed nut:

Here is a body bolt:

Here is the original plastic push fastner that is in the fender well from chrysler:
