Track Tires... (Moved)

I haven't been to the forum for awhile, but have used it as a resource to swapping the t-stat, replacing the break pads, oil recommendations etc. Keep up the good work.

We have a new road track opening up about 20 minutes from the house, and it's going to be quite easy and tempting to get some laps down on the track. Last time I had the car on the road course was the SRT experience at Laguna Seca last year (BTW it was great beating their cars up vs mine!)

I would like to get out there, and run around a couple of times and was thinking of getting another set of tires just for the track. The car is my daily driver, and I'm currently on Toyo's, but I was thinking it may be best to get a separate set of wheels and tires I can pop on in the morning on my way out.

Any suggestions on a track tire I should be looking at, or do I stay with the Toyo's and just replace them more often?

Thanks,

This may be one of the few instances where the Goodyear F1's would actually be recommended.

Nitto NT-N05 is as close to a proper track tire as it gets. There are multiple posts about track use of these tires, all of them very positive. You may end up with just one set of tires for a track and daily driver. I am putting them on my car soon, let you know how good these are on SRT.

many

don't use your Toyos! That's an all season tire.

Goodyear F1's are great. Michelin Pilot Sports are, too. Bridgestone Potenza RE50 (not sure of the number) are what Matt Robertson uses.

Most of the serious racers use a smaller wheel to get more gearing and better deals on rubber.
