Going to 75-80 Dragway on Friday Night

I'm taking my SRT8 to the 75-80 dragway in Monrovia, Maryland this Friday night for some more test & tune fun. It's not the greatest track due to it's slight uphill grade, but a couple of weeks ago I did manage to get a 13.2 @ 106.2 mph. This was on a 2.08 60 ft time, which was my best out of the 3 runs I made. My engine temp was far from optimal too, so I think I can shave a tenth or two off that time.

I have a few questions before I go back, so here goes:

1. I'm thinking I may be able to get a 1.9x 60 ft. time if the track prep is good. Is it unreasonable to expect a 1.9x 60 ft. time on the stock RSAs? What's the best 60 ft. anyone has done with the RSAs?

2. They had no ice for sale the last time. I'm planning on iceing down my engine and intake this time. How much does this help? I'm guessing it will help quite a bit because it was a major help when I iced down my Mustang between runs.

3. How much fuel should I have in my tank? Half tank? Quarter tank? Someone told me a while ago that as long as I had less than a half tank, it would be fine. I suspect that a little bit of extra weight over the rear wheels couldn't hurt too much.

4. This question may be a bit ambitious, but do you think it's possible I could make a 12 second pass 100% bone stock? Based on the 13.2 second run with a 2.08 60 ft., it seems quite possible to me if I can get a 1.9x 60 ft. time, especially since I will be icing it down this time. It should also be a little cooler this time because I'm going at night instead of in the afternoon.

6. Do you guys have any other tips before I go? Oh yeah, I almost forgot. This time I'm removing the child seats! I completely forgot to take them out last time. My friend was laughing. He said your running low 13s with car seats in there!

The baby seat is good for 10 rwhp!

I'd say a high 12 is definitely possible, but you are somewhat subject to the density altitude that day...even that close to sea level.

Track prep is everything, but if it is good there is no reason you cannot 60-foot a 1.9 on the RSA's, and from what I have read on LX forums, several people have done it with them on the good east coast tracks. But again, it comes down to the track that day. Sometimes it's day to day.

Icing is huge, throw a cooler in the trunk and pick it up at the gas station...much cheaper there and just for kicks pull fuse 2 and see if it helps - I bet it does. I vote to run your gas down as low as you can, fill up a gas can to carry with you in case you go too low Good luck,

Eric

great fun

as usual EG is right on the money.

BTW, icing my intake was worth over 2 tenths. And you CAN cut a 1.9x on RSA's you just have to heat them up well.

Good luck!

I'm very excited, mostly because I did better than I expected on my first time there a couple of weeks ago. I corrected that time for DA, and it is a high 12, without icing it down and with a not-so-great 2.08 60 ft. time. I'll be there at night this time, and it is expected to be a little bit cooler too. It was over 80 degrees (according to the weather data at dragtimes.com on the DA calculator) on my 13.2 second run, but it actually felt hotter there on the track. There was some humidity too. I'm also going to try and do better burnouts this time. I need to replace those RSAs anyway. I'm just hoping to do better this time than I did the last time. If I can run a 13.1, I will be happy because I'm moving in the right direction. Thanks for the tips!

Anyone else in Maryland interested in bringing their car to the 75-80 dragway? I'm going with my brother and a friend tomorrow night. Gates open at 4 PM and test & tune starts running at 5 PM. I'll probably be the only one there in a red 300C SRT8

Visit their site for directions:
