I'm going to the 75-80 Dragway in Monrovia, MD on Friday Sept. 18. Is anyone here interested in going? I'm bringing my brother and a friend with me. The last time I was there, only one other LX was racing, a new Charger Daytona. It would be nice to not be the only LX out there. If anyone is interested, just let me know. The gates open at 4:00 PM, so I'm leaving work early. The last time I went on Friday, there were very few cars running test & tune until after 6:30, so you can get lots of runs in for the first hour and a half. Later in the evening there is more down time, but I got in 9 runs the last time I was there, and let me car cool down several times between runs.

Shame I'm so busy. I'd take the ride down, but I'll be on my way to Athens Ga.
Enjoy the night and look forward to your detailed report!
I'll let you know how I do. I'm hoping there will at least be a couple of Chargers, Challengers or 300s at the track. There are always lots of Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds, and the Chevy Cobalts are also very popular.

The high temperature is supposed to be 73 degrees, so the air should be nice and cool after the sun sets. I'm hoping this holds, but the long-term forecasts are never very reliable. I'm just praying for good weather, or I will have to go the following Friday!
I'm a meteorologist actually, watch for a big slow-moving storm to lift out of the Gulf and work towards the mid-Atlantic by the end of the week. Hard to say exactly how it is going to go right now, could bother you though. Cross your fingers
Fingers crossed All I know is that the next Friday with good weather, I'll be there! Cleared it with the wife, so it's a go!

I was getting worried for a while. This morning, it said there was a 70% chance of rain in 21770 zip code (Monrovia, MD) on Friday. I checked a few minutes ago, and now it says 40% chance. I know it's difficult to predict that far out. I don't really care if it rains early in the day, so long as it's all dry by 4 PM. What are your thoughts? Do you think I may be looking at a rain out on Friday?

I would say there is cause for hope, it looks dry now with tht big storm staying south. Should be acceptable temps in the 70s which sill probably give you a DA somewhere between 1000-2000 depending on altitude etc, barometer should be 30.1 or so.
Thanks! I'm hopeful now that everything will be good. It looks like temps are expected to be in the low 80s when I get there at 4 PM. I was hoping for temps in the 60s, but probably after the sun sets the temps should be in the 70s. Regardless of DA, it should be fun. I will probably try to wait for a Friday night when I know the DA will be great, and just go again, even if I can't find anyone to go with me. It's supposed to be a bit humid. How much does humidity affect the DA?

That's what I use for a density altitude calculator.
Temperature, then pressure and then finally humidity affect the DA in that order. Elevation is not weather dependant, but obviously that's big too. So humidity not so much, but at it's extreme it certainly holds you back.
