First track time with the srt8 & tried the dynolicious iPhone app too (Moved)

Went to great lakes drag in wi last night for the first time to practice. First pass was 13.181 @ 109.34 with a 2.2 60ft. I forgot to drop the rear pressure down to 27 from 37psi.duh I left in first with ESP partially off. Next run 13.210@108.90 2.180 (I used dynolicios app on this one, said I ran 13.58@ 110.1 2.37- that's pretty close to my actual timeslip and using my homemade foam mount. With better windshield mount I think it should be real close. It also said I have 445hp). My third run was 13.183 @ 108.91 2.194

the car has 245 rsa's, with 27psi on the rears last two runs. DA was 1700 94%humidity, slightly foggy, ESP partially off on all runs. my 1/8 mi speeds were all 88mph+. My slowest time (13.2) was run in D, other 2 left in first. I knew with no track prep, high humidity my 60's were going to blow, but man they REALLY blew!lol Going to wait for cooler
drier to get into the 12's. There was only one other srt vehicle there, a magnum srt8 with same mods but he had a magnaflow catback and high flows running 13.8's with the 93 cai canned tune.Nice guy, he's planning on putting it on the dyno with a WB.

great

sweet.

I'm sure you had a lot of fun. The trap is very good, all you need is some track prep and a little practice to launch. There's a lot of time in those 60's!

I've been wanting to hear about the accuracy of that app for the Iphone.

Looks like it could be better with a proper mounting? My Gtech is almost dead on accurate but must be really carefully leveled and played with a bit.

BTW, my old school HP calculator says my car was making 460 when I ran the run in my sig!

Thanks, it was fun. First guy I ran had a 2nd gen camaro with big tires and skinnies up front, roll bar etc. I had a .124 rt to his .6, he ran a mid 13@105, So beat him by .8.lol I'm
too poor to buy a gtech, so I went with the 12.99 app. I did a quick calibration a few days earlier on the table, so with a better calibration with a straight edge and windshield mount, it should get pretty close to the actual timeslips.
That's a good time you ran for a stock car. What was your 60ft and DA? Great trap mph too!

thanks

the D/A was negative, about -700 or so. A Charger SRT8 that was there was running 12.60's!

Actually the car is much faster now, it just hasn't been back to the track.

I will be running it in the Florida Mile on October 11. We'll see how she does on the top!

Those are some great runs! I haven't been able to get better than 13.2 ET and my trap speeds are lower than yours, but I've had lots of 2.0 60 ft. times. My DA corrected times are very close to yours and I am going to try a different and faster track this fall (hopefully!). It's great to see others going to the track with their SRT8s!

Stevesrt8, what is this negative DA you speak of. I've personally never encountered better than a 1500.lol Man you have a strong running csrt8. Looking forward to seeing the Florida mile results in Oct.

thanks srt8man, good job on the 2.0's. I hope I can get a 2.0 with the rsa's in a couple weeks. I know the rsa aren't very good in the dry, but it's shocking how bad they are in rain! Snow should be interesting in a few months.

The RSAs are really bad compared to some other tires like the Toyos. They are really bad in the rain and you have to be extremely careful if there is any snow at all on the road. I've driven in the snow on a couple of occassions, but there were only a few inches on the ground. I made it home, but had to go really, really slow. It was not fun!

You mentioned that you had your ESP "partially off". What do you mean by this? Did you press and hold the button for 10 seconds? I know that "fully off" doesn't really mean it's completely disabled, but you should press and hold the button until it says "ESP Off". I always run with ESP off and this will produce the best 60 ft. time.

Your trap speeds and ETs are excellent, and with a better 60 ft. time those numbers will get better. I've been racing at a track that has a slight incline to and it gets worse after the 1/8 mile marker. I'm probably going to a different track next time with better weather (DA) to see what my car is really capable of.

By the way, how were other cars doing? I would think the Magnum SRT8 would have done better. What kind of cars were you paired with? There are very few imports where I've been going.

Negative D/A means the atmospheric conditions are actually denser than sea level. We just call it 'good air'.

It's great for HP but bad for traction. That's why we pay more attention to trap speed than ET's. A really low ET has a lot of skill involved, while trap speed is somewhat less dependent on the driver.

BTW, we have had completely stock SRT8's run in the 12.50's with street tires!!!

I pushed the ESP bottun, didn't deactivate it fully. I thought with no track prep, humid damp night and rsa's, my lack of practice launching the 300, I just might need the yaw stability control at some point. Gotta remember to reset the adaptives next time too(I should bring a checklist).
As far as other cars, my brother's 08 350z low 14's, blown g35 w 400rwhp was running 13.3 @103 1.9 60ft on Hoosiers. There was a really loud c5 vette on slicks running mid 12's. The guy with the magnum srt8 said he ran 13.3 last fall in cooler/drier air.
