I'm going to Capitol Raceway in Crofton, MD on Sunday, November 15 for some more test & tune fun. This track is better than 75-80 Dragway because it is NOT on an incline and I've heard they do a much better job preparing it for the test & tuners. I'm hoping that it doesn't rain, but just in case, Sunday, November 22 is the alternate date. DA should be excellent [I'm hoping for negative DA]. The gates open at 11:00 for the tech inspection and test & tune begins promptly at 12:00 and runs until 5:00. The cost is $10 for spectators and $20 for drivers. I'm planning to be one of the first in line, and from what I hear it is best to arrive early if you want to make more runs. If it's anything like the other track, I will make more runs in the first hour than I will the rest of the afternoon. I called today, and they said it gets crowded because November 15 and 22 are the last test & tune sessions until next spring.
My friend from work is going to race his Lexus IS-F and I'm sure it will run very well. He's never been to the dragstrip before, but he has done lots of autocrossing, so I think he will do fine. I'm trying to talk my twin brother into running his Charger Daytona, but I'm not sure if he will want to come. My older brother is coming, and hopefully a few more friends will come along. I'm trying to provide lots of advance notice in the hope that maybe someone from this forum will be able to come and join the fun. It would be really great to have another LX there. On my past 3 trips to the track, I have only seen one LX racing, a Charger Daytona with the 5.7L engine.
If anyone is interested, it won't be hard to find me there. I'll probably be the only one racing a red Chrysler 300C SRT8!
Anyone interested in going so I'm not the only LX there? My older brother and a few friends are coming with me. I'm also hoping my twin brother will come along with his Charger Daytona. A friend from work is bringing his Lexus IS-F. It will be the first time he has ever been to the dragstrip, but he did autocross a while ago.
I'm excited about going to the dragstrip next Sunday. Is there anyone who doesn't live too far away that may want to go? There will be excellent DA if the current weather conditions continue. The extended forecast says there is a chance of showers. I hope it's wrong!
It's only a couple hours. Shame Marcos is going to the other event. I wanted to hook up with him again. Real good guy he is.
I'll be there with the 300. The one with Jersey tags
I'll get together with ya before hand maybe on Fri night. I haven't run a car a t a drag before so this ought to be good. I'll probably hang til 2 ish so my traffic isn't too bad on the way back
Sounds great! Once you make one or two runs, you will be hooked. It's lots of fun! Maybe Marcos can just come to Capitol Raceway instead of going to the Mopar event at MIR. You may want to check with him and see if he wants to do that. The Mopar event sounds like it may be difficult to make lots of runs with all of that stuff going on. I like to go early because you can usually make more runs early before the lines get long.
By the way, your car looks great, and clean too!
I put that information in the wrong thread (I meant to put it here), so I'm copying it here for anyone else who may be interested in coming.
The gates open at 11:00 AM for tech inspection and test & tune begins at 12:00. The cost is $10 for spectators and $20 to race in the test & tune session. I'll be there early when the gates open at 11:00 and plan to stay most of the afternoon, probably until about 3:30 or 4:00.

I tried to get him to come. There a lot of other guys he know's who are going so i think he wants to make an event of that. I think I wanna try and change out my old plugs today. They are a little overdue .I'll need some pointers with the car. I can launch bikes very, very well, cars not so good
Launch technique takes a bit of practice and there are lots of different factors involved (tires, tire pressure, temperature, etc.). If you've got good tires, you can launch harder. I have to "granny" launch my SRT8 or the RSAs go up in smoke. Rolling onto the throttle in one quick smooth motion will produce the best results. It should take no more than about 1.5 seconds to press the throttle to the floor when done right. I launch at about 1300 RPMs, but the launch RPM for your car may be different.
I just put some Toyo's on yesterday. You think RSA's are bad, The stock Conti's were horrible(although mine had incredible mileage). I put the foot down to see the grip, and these went right up in smoke. I'm seriously gonna have to learn some type of launch technique
I've heard very good things about the Toyos. The guy with the Jaguar S-Type R had Toyo Proxes on his car, and he said his launch technique was to bring RPMS up to 3500, release the brake, and then mash it to the floor when. I find it hard to believe that would work, but that's what he said. His launch technique is my burnout technique...LOL...
