SRT8 Transmission Temp Gauge shows Coolant Temp
Hi, On the SRT Performance Page, under Gauges 2, there is a gauge for the transmission temperature. When I am "in gear" (reverse, drive, etc.) the gauge appears to show the transmission temp (which is typically much lower than the engine coolant temp). However, in Neutral or Park, the gauge will switch to coolant temp (so the engine coolant temp and the trans temp gauges are the same). Is this normal?
In alldatadiy.com, under Transmission Control Module - Operation, it says the following about the ATF Temperature Sensor. Does this explain my readings?
The ATF temperature sensor is wired in series with the park/neutral contact. The temperature signal is transmitted to the TCM only when the reed contact of the park/neutral contact is closed because the TCM only reads ATF temperature while in any forward gear, or REVERSE. When the transmission is in PARK or NEUTRAL, the TCM will substitute the engine temperature for the ATF temperature.
