Rear Diff Gear Change

I have a Mopar 12 edition of the 300 that came stock with 3.92 gears. What I would like to know is how easy it is to change the ratio to a little less aggressive ratio, maybe like a 3.55 or 3.06. Also, is there any programming that would need to take place after the gears were physically changed? I'm not sure how the car does its reading/calculation for vehicle speed. Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks. The car screams from a stop, but the problem is it also screams at 3000 rpms cruising.

its not easy....the diff has to come out & the crown and pinion gears need to be removed, The new crown ring gear has to be lapped to get it smooth. Then the crown & pinion are manoeuvred until they are at the correct depth setting to one another, then they need adjusting with a micrometer to adjust the lash between the gears, adjusting them according to the amount of engineers 'blue' one gear transfers to the other.
Its specialist work really. Crown and pinion sets run into the $300-$500 territory on our cars - thats the cost of the bits without labour

There are lots of diffs out there used with a 306 or 292 ratio .

If you are taking the power out;you are putting the fuel in.There is no free lunch.
