Ok I just fixed my sagging rear bumper on both sides, basically copying Jerry's method (Thanks! ) but one thing I did change was I used a "nylock" nut rather than a regular nut. This allowed me to tighten it up "just enough" so that the gap is aligned but not so tight that the fascia was distorted at all. The other thing I will mention, is if you use a 1/4" carriage bolt (with the square part under the head) and drill a 5/16" hole in the aluminum, you can draw the bolt through with a nut on the other side and it fits tight enough so as not to turn when you are tightening up the nylock nut. I used a stainless steel bolt but I don't think that's necessary really. I didn't take 'before' pics but it was just like Joey's pictures. Here's some "after' pics.

I find it pathetic that we on this forum can do a better job at repairing the defects on these cars than DCX. I mean with all there resources and think tanks they cant come up with a better fix than a cheap plastic clip, but we with out limited resources and a few thinkers can come up with this great fix. BOOOO!!! DCX, Hooray 300C forums. I only wish some of you guys stayed near me, so I could have you do this for me.

You can do it yourself; it took me less than an hour and that included cutting the aluminum, drilling the holes, taking the pics, and putting my tools away. I think DCX did do something different on later build cars; my dad's '06 (built July '05) is much, much better than my 2005 (2/05 build date). His gap is not perfect but the fascia doesn't move up and down like mine did. Goofy Tim mentioned his '06 was braced inside too while his '05 is not. Anytime you have a first-year build of a completely new car there are bound to be some annoying little issues. For me it was easier to fix it than to hassle with taking it to the dealer anyway.

It is very funny reading this. I had mine in the shop about a week ago and they performed that TSB. But it doesn't look as good as Jerry's so I am going to try and perform the same fix so I can have the perfection on both sides since one side didn't do it.

Thanks for sharing,

Jay

Smile Jerry's "TSB" for Rear Fascia

Followed Jerry's TSB tonight and my 05's rear fascia now fits perfectly. Took me maybe an hour, including squaring the holes for the carriage bolts in the 6"x 1 x 1 x 1/8 aluminum angles. I used SS bolts, nuts and washers.

Twice back to the body shop and they never got it right.
