Um - does anyone have an audio or video file of their car exhibiting this hesitation? My SRT8 shifts 1-2 at WOT just like my 5.7l C did...seems to be very fast, just like the 2-3 and 3-4 shift. Does every SRT8 exhibit this behavior?

What we're referring to is when using the MANUAL mode, the engine actually revs faster than the tach AND the autostick "activation", therefore banging off the rev limiter.

The "fix" will make the trans shift into 2nd regardless of the driver and tach not "reacting" fast enough.

I was just thinking about this problem a little bit. According to the SRT group the 2007s already have this new programming in their TCM, which seems to have been confirmed from the few that have 07s. What is to stop us from buying an 07-programmed TCM and just dropping it into an 06?

There are actually two different "1-2 shift issues", D. The one you describe, which does get fixed by the upcoming TCM flash, and the other, which is really the one they were after, as evidenced by the fact that the guy who they visited was complaining about the second one

Sometimes, and almost no car does it %100, mine does it maybe 1-2 times out of 10 WOT launches, in Autostick, you get

WAAAAAAA..wa.. WAAAAAAAAAAA instead of

WAAAAAAA..WAAAAAAAAAAAA

that little wa being a 1-2 second time during which the car just seems to not be doing squat about actually changin the gear. Revs dont increase, but she just kinda hangs before engaging second. Instead of the standard say.5 second shift, this pause lasts long enough to throw you forward as momemtum drops rapidly

The TSB that has been out for some time which specifically addresses the SRT8 1-2 shift lag issue as well as the 3.7L Jeep's 4-3 downshift glitch, and which has fixed a number of issues I (and others who have since tried it, as well) was having with my sc tuner's tranny progs, is TSB 18-031-05.

Of the 5 or so I know of who have followed my lead and talked their dealer into flashing their 5.7 with TSB 18-031-05 all but one report anywhere from significant to amazing results. The only one who noticed no change right off the bat was MattRobertson, who had previously had MagnumFreak update both his ECM and TCM with every patch known to mankind, which apparently made the effects/changes from this TSB flash less noticeable.

ChargerShed, who is not running the sc tuner, said it has made his transmission's shift behavior essentially perfect - just what he's been looking for ever since getting his car.

On my car it has made the sc tuner near-perfect. Gone are the huge time lags between Drive & Reverse, and vice versa, which made staging a nightmare, and the transmission's shift behavior in Drive, with the tuner installed, is now normal. Previously it would hold each gear till reaching 3 or 4 K even under the lightest possible acceleration, thus buzzing the hell out of the motor unless I manually upshifted each & every gear. It'll now shift in the upper teens when easy cruisin', just as it should.

With no other changes but this SRT8/Jeep TSB flash I'm a tenth quicker, turning in a sweet 13.090@106.18 the other evening despite a 2200' DA.

It's not perfect though - even it could not get the sc tuner to hold shift till the advertised 6250 rpm shift point, continuing instead to shift at a somewhat early 6000 rpm.

Had it held shift point for me Friday night I'd likely have gotten the 12-something run I was looking for.

Bottom line: While not "officially" a 5.7 TSB, it should be. If you want the improved performance and function from your tranny that this TSB flash provides and your dealer won't do the flash for you despite your having outlined the shift problems you're having, fire the bum and go elsewhere - you'll be very glad you did.

Looking at the TSB Meister, it says it's for the grand cherokee only.

There is another flash that was supposed to fix the shift problem: TSB 18-031-05

This TSB was meant for the SRT lag but is not the correct fix. There is a pending TSB that was to be released at the end of October but it wasn't. Hopefully it will be out before the end of the year. I have the shift issue and had this flash performed even though my build date was long after the TSB was issued. I noticed no difference in shift pattern and still have the hesitation. Also the pending flash will make the manual mode upshift automatically before redline is reached (currently the trannys will not upshift even if redline is met), this previous flash does not change this function.

Good catch, Jackal, and great info about the pending TSB that will hopefully clear up some major long-standing SRT8 tranny issues.

I referenced the incorrect TSB. The number of the TSB flash that I, and others, have used to cure a number of 5.7 ills, both stock and with the sc tuner, is 18-031-05.

Earler post in this thread corrected accordingly.
